Pamela Anderson, renowned as one of today’s most cherished public figures among celebrities, experienced a challenging journey to stardom, culminating in a life-altering burglary. To some extent, she addressed this difficult period by starring in the 2022 release, “Pam & Tommy”, which was exclusive to Hulu subscribers. Now, the actress from Barb Wire speaks about finding the experience of that show’s debut quite painful, all while enjoying the acclaim of her latest production — Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl.
The 57-year-old actress made an appearance on “Andy Cohen Live” on Sirius XM’s Radio Andy to discuss various aspects of her career, including a film set in Las Vegas. When prompted about her possible involvement or knowledge regarding the acclaimed Hulu drama series, she shared these thoughts:
The 57-year-old actress visited Sirius XM’s Radio Andy’s “Andy Cohen Live” to chat about a movie based in Las Vegas and other aspects of her career. During the conversation, she was asked if she had any insights or involvement with the Emmy-nominated Hulu series. Here’s what she had to say on that topic:
I discovered the Hulu project while we were shooting the documentary. To be clear, I had absolutely no knowledge of it, let alone the Pam and Tommy situation. I wasn’t asked to participate in any way; no one reached out to me. It was odd and upsetting not to have been involved given my previous connections with them.
Back when the series first aired several years back, it garnered significant interest. This miniseries delved into the infamous leaking of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s tape, with Lily James and Sebastian Stan portraying the main characters. Notably, during its premiere, the actress from “Scary Movie 3” expressed her discomfort with the show titled “Pam & Tommy“.
In a recent conversation, Andy Cohen ultimately inquired whether the program had permission to depict actual events from her life without obtaining her consent first. Subsequently, the actress from “Borat” shared her thoughts on this issue, discussing what others have told her about her personal experiences.
It seems to me that, from an ethical standpoint, it’s considered unlawful. However, in a more relaxed sense, it could be perceived as open for interpretation. I recall being advised years ago that one’s personal life is essentially in the public domain and there’s little room for privacy.
As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I’ve got to share some insights about my beloved Scooby-Doo gang. One of the original cast members recently expressed that the streaming platform hasn’t taken any steps to reconcile. Yet, it seems Pamela Anderson isn’t too preoccupied with past grievances, even if those associated with the show are being honored with awards. With a composed spirit, she expressed contentment with her current state, deeming it “the best form of retribution.” She also shared some additional thoughts:
“I’m happy with where I am today. Success is my sweetest revenge!
I’m being seen and recognized for my work and not these tawdry moments.
Pamela Anderson has been garnering praise for her role in “The Last Showgirl,” with support coming from fellow cast members. For instance, she had a comforting encounter with co-star Jamie Lee Curtis, who joined the production especially for her. In addition to critical recognition, Anderson has also been nominated for and won several awards.
It’s been delightful to observe the former star of Showgirls making decisions about her career on her own terms, such as turning down the Baywatch reboot and instead signing up for the latest installment of the Naked Gun series. Notably, her professional accomplishments continue to garner respect from other celebrities, with Beyoncé even emulating her Baywatch character for a Halloween costume.
Although it’s truly regrettable that Pamela Anderson has faced such hardships, it’s heartening to witness her current achievements. Now, she stands at a promising juncture where she can flourish and start a fresh chapter in her life, far beyond the events portrayed in the limited series.
The Last Showgirl is playing in theaters nationwide now.
