In the process of changing hands, Paramount Pictures has signed a 30-film collaboration agreement for funding with Domain Capital, a financial group, who are interested in supporting movies spanning various genres and budget ranges.
In the exciting world of gaming, I’m excited to share some upcoming titles that we’ve got lined up. These include the action-packed thriller “Novocaine” starring Jack Quaid, the animated adventure “The Smurfs Movie” led by Rihanna, a remake of “The Naked Gun” featuring Liam Neeson, and the Edgar Wright-directed “The Running Man”. Previously, we’ve collaborated with Paramount on Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator II” and the holiday smash hit “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”. Can’t wait to see these projects come to life!
Pete Chiappetta, Media, Entertainment & Technology Managing Director at Domain, expressed his pleasure about collaborating with Paramount Pictures on their upcoming movie lineup. He noted that Paramount’s commitment to creating high-quality content aligns well with Domain’s goal of enhancing the worth of its film collection for investors. The team at Domain is thankful for the efforts of the Paramount team who helped initiate this strategic partnership.
In a statement, the COO of Paramount Pictures, Courtney Armstrong, expressed delight about their business collaboration with Domain, saying they’re excited to offer top-tier entertainment to viewers worldwide. They anticipate a lasting and fruitful partnership in the future.
This long-term agreement, struck between the studio conglomerate and an unnamed partner led by CEO Patrick R. Leardo, signifies a transition to a fresh period of ownership. If specific, undisclosed milestones are achieved, this co-financing deal could potentially expand to support up to 40 future film projects. Back in 2023, the investment firm had already sealed a multiyear co-financing contract with Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, which involved funding their hit movie Barbie.
In July, controlling shareholder Shari Redstone of Paramount Global signed a merger agreement with David Ellison and Skydance Media. This deal unites the production company behind the film “Top Gun: Maverick” with the owners of Paramount’s movie studio, CBS, Showtime, Nickelodeon, MTV, Paramount+, and other assets. The merger is expected to be finalized in the first half of 2025, provided it passes regulatory checks.
