Paramount+ Removed Tons Of Content, And I Feel Like My Childhood Has Been Taken Away

As a 90’s kid who grew up with Nickelodeon as my TV companion, it feels like a punch to the gut to see these beloved shows being removed from Paramount+. I can still remember the excitement of coming home from school and rushing to catch the latest episode of Doug or Big Time Rush. The laughter, the joy, the nostalgia – all of it seems to be slipping away, and it’s leaving a void that no modern show can fill.

With an abundance of content spanning numerous studios and networks, Paramount+ stands out as a top-tier streaming service. This includes popular shows from channels such as CBS and Nickelodeon that many enjoy, both in the present and past. Regrettably, it’s been noticed that quite a bit of content is being taken down, causing a sense of nostalgia to fade away for some viewers as their cherished programs seem to vanish.

It appears that Deadline is sharing news about another large-scale content removal happening on Paramount+, this time affecting shows from Nickelodeon. Some iconic series such as “Doug”, one of the initial Nicktoons, and popular choices like “Big Time Rush” will no longer be available on Paramount+ starting in December.

As a dedicated cinema enthusiast, I find myself in a melancholic state as my beloved shows – My Life as a Teenage Robot, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, and The Penguins of Madagascar – have met the same unfortunate end. At present, I’m left in the dark about their future whereabouts.

To add more information, shows such as “Breadwinners,” “Game Shakers,” “House of Anubis,” “Wonder Pets,” “ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks,” “Fanboy & Chum Chum,” “Sanjay & Craig,” and “Welcome to the Wayne” are also being taken off Paramount+, alongside others from Nickelodeon.

After seeing so many of those programs, I can’t help but have a sense that a piece of my childhood is slipping away from me. And it saddens me to think that I might never be able to revisit a significant portion of these shows again, particularly as some Nickelodeon series are not given the recognition they deserve.

Based on reports from Paramount, the removal of certain titles is routine, happening both monthly and quarterly as part of their ongoing process to update their collection. However, the specific criteria or reasoning behind these decisions remain unclear. It’s possible that this isn’t the last time we see such changes, especially when it comes to nostalgic titles like those you mentioned.

On various occasions, Paramount+ has carried out significant content clear-outs. For instance, in the year 2023, they took down several original productions that had recently been terminated, along with a multitude of films. Unfortunately, some of these projects didn’t find a new platform to call home, and as a result, they simply vanished. It’s important to note that many streaming services have resorted to similar content purges, implying that no show is immune, which leaves me feeling disheartened when I consider it.

It’s possible that Nickelodeon shows such as Doug, Big Time Rush, and My Life As a Teenage Robot could reappear on Paramount+ or another streaming service down the line. At present, viewers who wish to watch these series will need to purchase them from different digital platforms instead.
