Parent Traps Lindsay Lohan Was Asked by Disney CEO About Her "Twin"

As a fan of cinema history and the magical world of Disney, I find Lindsay Lohan‘s journey to be nothing short of captivating. From fooling Michael Eisner with her stunning portrayal of twins in The Parent Trap at just 12 years old to her upcoming return to Disney in Freakier Friday, Lohan’s career trajectory is a testament to her undeniable talent and charisma.

It seems that Michael Eisner, the CEO of Disney at the time, was convinced by Lindsay Lohan’s exceptional acting in “The Parent Trap” (1998) that she had a twin sister on set. In the film, Lohan played both twins, Hallie Parker and Annie James, in the romantic comedy. During the movie’s premiere nearly 30 years ago, Eisner actually asked Lohan about her sister when they crossed paths. Lohan shared this anecdote during an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen when she was just 12 years old.

At such a tender age, I can’t quite recall the thought process behind it, but something I uttered has stuck with me ever since. What I said was, “You really ought to have given me twice as much, considering I don’t possess one.

Lindsay Lohan made her debut in full-length movies with “The Parent Trap” following her stints in commercials and soap operas like “Guiding Light”, “Another World”, and some episodes on “Sesame Street”. In Disney’s 1998 adaptation of the film, Lohan played twin sisters Hallie and Annie, who were daughters to Nick Parker (played by Dennis Quaid) and Elizabeth James (Natasha Richardson). Regrettably, Natasha Richardson, married to Liam Neeson in real life, passed away at 45 following a skiing accident in 2009.

Following the acclaim of “The Parent Trap” release in 1998, Lindsay Lohan’s career took off. Critics admired the updated take on the 1961 Disney film where Hayley Mills played the essential twin roles. The movie currently holds an impressive 87% score on the Tomatometer based on 54 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Half a decade later, Lohan collaborated with Jamie Lee Curtis for another Disney reboot, “Freaky Friday” (2003), and they plan to revisit this film in the much-anticipated sequel due out in 2025.

Lindsay Lohan Returns to Disney in ‘Freakier Friday’

In 2025, Jamie Lee Curtis (who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Lindsay Lohan will reprise their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman in the sequel titled Freakier Friday. Interestingly, Lohan initially made her mark in films with Disney’s The Parent Trap, although she had previously collaborated with various projects under Disney’s banner. Recently, Lohan expressed her excitement about revisiting Disney Studios in an interview with Collider, stating:

Returning to Disney, the company felt like a magical, nostalgic time capsule for me. I stumbled upon many aspects of it and found myself feeling like a 10-year-old again. The whole experience was surreal, enchanting, and truly wonderful. We had an absolute blast making this movie, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. It is both beautiful and fun, and I am incredibly excited for its release!

Besides starring in “The Parent Trap” and “Freaky Friday,” I’ve also graced the screens in Disney’s theatrical films like “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen” and “Herbie: Fully Loaded.” As an actress, I’ve also shone in two made-for-TV movies produced by Disney: “Life-Size” and “Get a Clue.” And here’s some exciting news for all you Lohan fans! Filming on the long-awaited sequel to “Freaky Friday,” titled “Freakier Friday,” was officially completed back in August. So, mark your calendars as this movie is set to hit theaters on Aug. 8, 2025.
