As someone who’s been traversing the labyrinthine realms of Wraeclast for quite some time now, I must say that the new Path of Exile 2 classes have truly revitalized my journey. Having dabbled in each one during its early access, I can confidently rank them for beginners, and here’s how it goes:
If you’re wondering about the top Path of Exile 2 character classes, currently, there are six that can be played in the game’s early access phase. An additional six classes have been announced and will be accessible once the complete game is launched.
Currently, let’s concentrate on the current classes available in Path of Exile 2 and rank them from top to bottom, considering which ones we think would provide the smoothest introduction for beginners eager to start their journey.
- Witch: S Tier
- Mercenary: S Tier
- Warrior: A+ Tier
- Sorceress: A Tier
- Ranger: B Tier
- Monk: B Tier
Witch
As a newbie gamer, I’d recommend the Witch class for your gaming journey. She’s got an arsenal of abilities that let you dish out some serious damage while maintaining a comfortable distance from your enemies. With her potent spells and knack for summoning undead minions, mastering her gameplay feels effortless yet incredibly rewarding.
For beginners, it’s a significant benefit as your minions serve as a protective shield, taking damage while you remain secure, allowing you to concentrate on strategic positioning or casting supportive spells. Moreover, several of the Witch’s abilities enhance her minions, such as auras or curses that weaken enemies or strengthen her undead allies.
Mercenary

In the upcoming game Path of Exile 2, there’s a fresh character class called The Mercenary, who excels in long-range battles using a distinctive crossbow. Unlike regular crossbows that employ a drawback system, this one features an instant-fire mechanism, giving it a feel reminiscent of automatic rifles (AR).
Primarily, these crossbows are versatile and can work with multiple kinds of ammunition, each offering unique impacts. To illustrate, certain ammunition causes enemies to stand still, while other types, such as explosive bolts, have a wide-range impact that can disperse crowds using area-of-effect bursts.
Warrior

Watching the Warrior’s fierce attack style against opponents adds an exciting edge. Given their focus on power, combat encounters tend to be intense and face-to-face.
The Warrior’s extraordinary resilience significantly alters gameplay dynamics – this is due to their thick armor and vast health reserve, enabling them to withstand blows that would annihilate other character types. Their skills such as Cleave or Ground Slam can strike numerous enemies concurrently, making them exceptional for clearing large groups and maintaining dominance over the battlefield.
Sorceress

The true charm of the Sorceress lies in her adaptability. Based on your preferred strategy for each battle, you have the option to concentrate on various types of elemental damage – unleashing devastating firepower, stunning adversaries with chain lightning, or encasing enemies in ice to hinder their mobility.
Every component possesses unique abilities, and, acting as a Sorceress, you’re free to combine and customize according to your preferred strategy. Moreover, her magical attacks can simultaneously target several opponents, causing continuous damage.
Ranger

Similar to the Mercenary, the Ranger is equipped with a bow for combat purposes. If you appreciate the accuracy and tactical aspect of long-range attacks, then the Ranger’s bow abilities are among the most gratifying in the entire game.
But it’s not all about offense. She is incredibly mobile; dodge and stay out of danger. You can classify her as one of the most evasive classes in the game. However, while the Ranger’s bows are powerful, she relies on positioning and timing. She is vulnerable if caught in close combat because she doesn’t have heavy armor or a large health pool.
Monk

At the end of our list comes the Monk class, not due to its underperformance, but rather its intricate nature that makes it challenging to master. This character boasts an adaptable set of skills, blending martial art techniques with elemental assaults.
From his collection of talents, some of the most thrilling ones include Wind Burst, Freezing Blow, and Temperature Shift. These techniques provide an intriguing blend of control, damage, and versatility to the Monk’s gameplay.
