Patrick Gibson Is a Serial Killer in Training in ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ Trailer

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the dark and twisted world of Dexter Morgan, I eagerly anticipate the release of “Dexter: Original Sin.” Having followed Dexter’s journey from a tormented serial killer to a complex anti-hero, I am intrigued by the prospect of witnessing his origins.

In the fresh preview for the upcoming backstory series, titled “Dexter: Original Sin“, we find that Dexter Morgan is being groomed to become a ruthless serial killer.

The prequel series stars Patrick Gibson as young Dexter and Michael C. Hall as his inner voice. The show is set in 1991 Miami and follows Dexter “as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Christian Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.”

In the trailer, Slater cautions me, “You’ve got to fit in. One misstep, and not only your life but also your sister’s and mine could be at stake.” I retort, “Mastering the code was just the start; actually living it for the first time is a whole new chapter in my story.

In addition to Michael C. Hall, the cast of “Dexter: Original Sin” includes Molly Brown, Christina Milian, James Martinez, Alex Shimizu, Reno Wilson, Patrick Dempsey, and a special appearance by Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The 10-episode drama is overseen by Clyde Phillips (executive producer), in collaboration with Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios. Additionally, Scott Reynolds, Hall, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns serve as executive producers. Robert Lloyd Lewis handles the production of the series.

Beginning on December 13, “Dexter: Original Sin” will be available to stream for those who have a Paramount+ subscription package that includes Showtime, prior to its television premiere on December 15.
