Patti LaBelle and Common to Hit DNC Stage Tuesday Night

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in the virtual world, I can’t help but draw parallels between my gaming adventures and real-life events like the DNC. Just like leveling up in a game, we’re seeing some familiar faces reappear on the stage – Patti LaBelle and Common, who are like veteran NPCs (Non-Player Characters) returning to guide us through this political quest. The Obamas, Schumer, Sanders, and Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff are our quest givers, dispensing wisdom and guidance for the path ahead.

On Tuesday evening, the Democratic National Convention will persist at Chicago’s United Center, where Patti LaBelle and rapper Common are set to headline the event. Joining them on stage will be a lineup of influential political figures, spearheaded by former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, his First Lady.

On Tuesday, Billboard reported that campaign officials have confirmed the news: both Jennifer Hudson (also known as LaBelle) and Common, a local legend having grown up in the city’s south side, were spotted during their sound checks earlier in the day. They are the latest artists to perform after Jason Isbell and Mickey Guyton who took the stage on the DNC’s opening night. However, due to time constraints, James Taylor, the scheduled final performer for that evening, was unfortunately unable to take the stage as planned, according to officials.

As a gamer, I’m pumped for the event on Tuesday night! The theme is “A Bold Vision for America’s Future,” and it promises to be a star-studded affair with the Obamas, Doug Emhoff (Kamala Harris’ husband), Governor JB Pritzker of Illinois, Senators Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders, and more gracing the stage. The talented Ana Navarro from “The View” will be our host for the evening!

At the Democratic National Convention (DNC), Patti LaBelle makes her comeback to the stage; this is not her first time performing at the DNC. Back in 2004, she graced the stage with a rendition of the Sam Cooke classic and civil rights anthem “A Change is Gonna Come.” More recently, she performed on the White House South Lawn for a Juneteenth celebration alongside Harris and President Joe Biden. Meanwhile, Common appeared at the 2020 virtual DNC in tandem with John Legend, performing their Academy Award-winning song “Glory,” which was from the film Selma.

As the evening progressed, it became apparent that there wouldn’t be an opportunity for our “You’ve Got a Friend” performance featuring cello and voices. It seems the event organizers may not have foreseen the enthusiastic reaction from the crowd at the United Center… #JT #JamesTaylor #DNC #DNC2024
