As a die-hard fan of The Office who has spent countless hours rewatching every single episode, I am beyond thrilled to see the staff of the fictional newspaper in Peacock’s new series expanding! With Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, and Ramona Young joining Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore, this ensemble is shaping up to be a powerhouse of talent that will surely bring laughter and heart to our screens.
The staff of the fictional newspaper in Peacock‘s follow-up to The Office is growing.
The as-of-now unnamed series being developed by Greg Daniels, creator of U.S. Office, and Michael Koman (Nathan for You) has recently expanded its cast to include Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, and Ramona Young. They join Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore in the show’s ensemble.
A comedy series recently given the go-ahead by Peacock in May shares the universe with The Office, and much like its predecessor, it will be a mockumentary. The series’ synopsis goes as follows: “A documentary team that captured Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch on film are now hunting for a new subject when they stumble upon a struggling historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher who is attempting to breathe life into it with an army of volunteer reporters.
The news about the joining of three new actors wasn’t shared in an industry magazine but instead appeared in the Palisadian-Post, a local newspaper that covers L.A.’s Pacific Palisades neighborhood, where Gregg, Frei, and Young recently spent time working with the staff.
At present, Gregg is featured in another Peacock series titled “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist“. His portfolio also consists of “Snowfall” and the second season of “American Vandal“. Notably, Frei has been recognized for their roles in Fox’s “The Cleaning Lady” and “The Moodys“, and they made an appearance in an episode of Peacock’s “Poker Face“. Additionally, Young was a main cast member on Netflix’s “Never Have I Ever“, and they had a recurring role in “Legends of Tomorrow” on The CW.
Daniels and Koman are overseeing the production of the mockumentary, teaming up with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant – creators of the British version of “The Office,” which served as the foundation for the NBC series – as well as Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas.
