Perry Farrell’s Wife Says He Is Seeking Medical Treatment After “Physical Outburst” at Jane’s Addiction Concert

As a long-time fan of Jane’s Addiction, I can’t help but feel a pang of concern and empathy for Perry Farrell, whose life has always been as vibrant and unpredictable as his music. The recent incident with Dave Navarro and the subsequent cancellation of tour dates have left us all in a state of shock and worry.

The lead singer of Jane’s Addiction, Perry Farrell, is receiving medical care after an altercation on stage with guitarist Dave Navarro caused the group to terminate their remaining North American tour dates.

His wife, Etty Lau Farrell, revealed the update in an Instagram post on Saturday.

She mentioned that they’re spending some personal time for reflection and recovery. Perry has scheduled visits with an ear, nose, and throat specialist as well as a neurologist. If you truly understand and care about Perry, there’s no need for me to debunk the untrue stories circulating. Our hearts are aware.

Etty Lau mentioned that she and her husband value every expression of “love and encouragement” they receive. She stated that they were just as surprised by Perry’s physical reaction as everyone else, but clarified that he had been pushed to the very brink of his endurance. In light of this situation, they express their sincere apologies.

At their September 13th concert in Boston, as captured in posted videos, lead singer Farrell is shown arguing with Navarro, shouting expletives towards the guitarist, and even throwing a punch during their performance of “Ocean Size”.

On September 16th, the band announced that they were cancelling all remaining tour dates in North America. This marked the first time in 14 years that the group had toured together.

To all our supporters, the band has chosen to temporarily step back from working together. Consequently, the rest of the tour has been called off, as announced on their social media.

For her part, Etty Lau, also shared some words of hope in her social media post.

In the fullness of her affection, benevolence, empathy, and encouragement, she expressed that Perry will overcome. He will heal. He will find joy once more. He will regain the ability to express his music, creativity, and talent – freely,” she penned.

We are deeply moved and incredibly humbled by each one of you who have spared time from your lives to shower us with heartwarming messages filled with love and support. Your constant concern, checking up on our well-being, is truly touching. You’ve extended more than just words – offering love, compassion, kind gestures, and even the offer of a place to retreat during difficult times. We are truly grateful for your generosity and thoughtfulness.

Just as similar things draw close to each other, kindness invites more kindness. You’re aware that Perry is a very kind-hearted person. We’re both taken aback by Perry’s unexpected outburst, just like you – but remember, Perry might have reached his breaking point due to extreme circumstances. For this reason, we offer our apologies.

We’re giving ourselves some space for introspection and recovery. Perry already has scheduled visits with an ear-nose-throat specialist (otolaryngologist) and a neurologist. If you’re close to Perry, you understand that I don’t need to debunk the misleading stories. Our inner selves are aware.

Through your endless love, generosity, empathy, and encouragement, it’s clear that Perry will prevail. He will heal. He will find joy once more. He will resume sharing his music, ideas, and talents freely again.

When he’s prepared, he’ll easily clear hurdles again to amuse us, stimulate our minds, and collaboratively alter the world.

We can rejoice together then. And you will know, we would not have been able to do it without you.
