Peter Chernin’s North Road Acquires Mexican Production Company Perro Azul

Peter Chernin’s North Road Company has acquired Mexican production company Perro Azul.

Blue Dog Studios, or Perro Azul, created the highly-viewed Netflix series titled “Who Killed Sara? (¿Quién mató a Sara?)” which is the most-watched show produced in Mexico and Latin America to date. This marks North Road’s initial acquisition in Latin America as they aim to fortify their international influence.

The original founders of Blue Dog Productions, Alexis Fridman and Juan Uruchurtu, will continue in their leadership positions. Additionally, executive producers Diego Rabasa and Julián de Tavira will also maintain their roles. Both Fridman and Uruchurtu will now report to Jan Frouman, the president of North Road International.

Established in 2019, Perro Azul is responsible for producing hit shows like “The Secret of the River” (El Secreto Del Río), which was Netflix’s most-watched Spanish-language series in October 2024. They also created popular Netflix titles such as “Queens on the Run” (Fuga de Reinas), “Nothing to See Here” (Ojitos De Huevo), and “Daughter From Another Mother” (Madre Solo Hay Dos).

North Road has taken another stride to increase its global influence following the acquisition of Karga Seven Pictures, a prominent Turkish company known for creating and producing scripted films and TV shows. Notably, North Road’s international collaborations encompass projects such as “Bad Boy”, an Israeli series conceived by the original creator of “Euphoria”, Ron Leshem; “Heart of a Killer”, a medical thriller headlined by Niv Sultan from the series “Tehran”; and “Suture”, a Brazilian series brought to life by Zasha Robles, an international Emmy winner. This collection has been unveiled on Prime Video in Latin America and Portugal.
