Dexter: Resurrection has booked another familiar name.
Peter Dinklage, renowned for his role as Tyrion Lannister in the TV series “Game of Thrones” on HBO, is now part of the cast list for Michael C. Hall’s “Dexter: Resurrection”.
In his recurring television character, Peter Dinklage portrays Leon Prater – a wealthy venture capitalist. While Leon appears as a kind-hearted philanthropist to the public eye, beneath his refined facade hides a tangled web of secrets and suspicious activities.
He will be part of the ensemble that includes Uma Thurman, along with David Zayas, James Remar, and Jack Alcott, who are all reprising their roles in the Dexter series.
Dexter: Rebirth” sees Hall reprise his role as Dexter Morgan, the protagonist serial killer, who will also serve as the narrator, a role he held in all previous series. The upcoming installment in the “Dexter” franchise is set in contemporary times and is being filmed in New York City. The show is slated to debut this summer on Paramount+, following its departure from Showtime.
Clyde Phillips, the showrunner, had earlier clarified to The Hollywood Reporter how all Dexter-related shows are linked. According to him, “Dexter: Resurrection” should be viewed as a continuation from where “Dexter: New Blood,” the 2021 revival series that followed the original Dexter series which ended in 2013, left off.
Between “New Blood” and the upcoming “Resurrection” lies the ongoing prequel series, “Dexter: Original Sin.” This weekend marks the finale of the show, which delves into the origin story of Dexter Morgan, played by Patrick Gibson, as he transforms into the serial killer known as Hall’s character in present day. The premiere of “Original Sin” functioned as a bridge between “New Blood” and “Resurrection,” as it figuratively resurrected Hall’s Dexter, reviving him after he was shot and seemingly killed off in the finale of “New Blood.
Peter Dinklage is a versatile actor who has made a significant impact in movies, TV shows, and theater. He is best known for his Emmy Award-winning role in the popular series “Game of Thrones,” earning him a record-breaking four Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe. Recently, he produced and starred in the films “American Dreamer,” “The Thicket” and “Brothers,” all under his production company Estuary Films. Additionally, he is part of the ensemble cast for the hit musical “Wicked,” lending his voice to the character Dr. Dillamond. Upcoming projects include playing a role in “The Toxic Avenger” and “Lear Rex,” starring alongside Al Pacino.
The show titled “Resurrection” is overseen by Emmy nominee Phillips, who also serves as the showrunner, and is produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios. Hall, Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Marcos Siega are among the executives producing this series, with Siega taking on the role of the lead director. Monica Raymund will direct four episodes, while Siega will handle six. The distribution rights for this series belong to Paramount Global Content Distribution.
