Pharrell Williams Cancels Something in the Water Festival This Year

As a proud Virginian and long-time fan of Pharrell Williams, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment when I heard about the cancellation of this year’s Something in the Water festival. However, after reading his heartfelt statement, I’m confident that the wait will be worth it.

This year’s Something in the Water festival, planned for October 12-13 at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, has been called off by Pharrell Williams.

On the official social media account of Festival X, Pharrell announced that he and his team felt it necessary to cancel and reschedule the event for this year. As a native of Virginia, he emphasized his commitment to making the state proud by saying, “Virginia deserves nothing less than the BEST.” He went on to explain, “Since SOMETHING IN THE WATER isn’t ready yet, we have decided to postpone this year’s festival, which was originally scheduled for October.

Born and raised in Virginia, Pharrell expresses his deep connection to the state by saying, “Virginia shaped me, and I want to acknowledge it with as much love as it’s shown me throughout my life. And you know me, wherever I go, it’s all about Virginia.” He assures fans that a tentative date for an upcoming event has been set for the spring of 2025, adding that those who have already purchased tickets will get first dibs on the new date. Pharrell is thankful for the support and trust from sponsors and the city, stating that the event in April 2025 will be nothing short of extraordinary. He concludes by expressing his gratitude to fans for their continued support, love, and understanding. The announcement of the cancellation came shortly after the festival unveiled a new tier of exclusive tickets for Virginia residents. Previously confirmed performers include Kid Cudi, Lil Wayne, The Clipse, Summer Walker, Grace Jones, Lil Uzi Vert, Kehlani, and many others.

Check out the complete statement and keep an eye out for updates about the rescheduled date.
