Ghost hunting in Phasmophobia is about to get even better with Kinetic Games’ plans for 2025.
With the game now available on both PC and consoles, the developers are currently working on enhancing the gameplay experience, providing a revitalized appearance for maps, and reintroducing seasonal events with unexpected twists. The developers have also outlined their plans for updates, improvements to certain areas, and new content to ensure an engaging gaming experience throughout the year. The initial major update, known as Chronicle, will focus on streamlining how players gather and store evidence in a more refined manner.
The Media section within the Photos segment of the Journal is getting an upgrade with a freshly introduced ‘Tab for Multimedia’. This reorganization aims to sort images, videos, and audio clips, thereby enhancing the intricacy of future investigations. Users will now have the ability to employ the novel Sound Recorder feature to capture unusual sounds and chilling voices, which can later be scrutinized within the Journal.
To maintain fairness, there’s also an incentive system: the initial capture of a unique event earns you larger rewards, while subsequent ones yield fewer. Chronicle emphasizes the updated evidence system, but Kinetic Games hints at more features to be revealed near release. In late 2025, Phasmophobia plans to introduce character upgrades for players, offering enhanced models, fluid animations, and improved mobility.
It remains undecided whether the recent update will rectify the infamous “bendy backs” issue, where characters contort into peculiar postures. This year’s updates encompass significant alterations to maps, featuring both novel locales and enhancements to existing ones. A new, compact map is due this year, but Kinetic Games has opted to keep details under wraps for the time being.
This map offers a fresh, unique adventure compared to the others in its collection, as it sports an environment distinct from the usual lineup. Maps such as Bleasdale Farmhouse, Grafton Farmhouse, and Tanglewood Drive are undergoing aesthetic and architectural improvements to align with contemporary standards. Meanwhile, Phasmophobia’s seasonal events will make a comeback, but with modifications based on player feedback.

Additionally, players may find themselves enticed by the prospect of personal perks, which makes the seasonal tasks all the more appealing.
