Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba: Vicky Kaushal lauds brother Sunny’s performance as a 'twisted character'; ‘You have truly surprised me’

As a die-hard fan of the enigmatic world of Bollywood, I must confess that witnessing the glitz and glamour of the special screening of Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba was nothing short of a dream come true! The anticipation was palpable as we gathered to catch a glimpse of our favorite stars.

Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey are ready to take on their roles again for the sequel of Haseen Dillruba, which debuted in 2021. Directed by Jayprad Desai, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba is slated to premiere on Netflix on August 9, 2024. Before its release for public viewing and critique, a special screening was held in Mumbai for the romantic thriller.

At a glamorous gathering, Vicky Kaushal attended to back his brother, the actor Sunny Kaushal, who portrays Abhimanyu in the movie. Not long after watching the film, the star of Dunki shared his thoughts on Sunny’s acting in Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba through Instagram stories.

As a devoted admirer, I must express my awe at the masterful portrayal of your character in Shiddat, @sunsunnykhez. Your skill to delve into such a complex role has left me genuinely surprised. The nuanced execution was impeccable. I could sense your eagerness to embrace this challenge and it’s clear that you enjoyed every moment of it. Kudos! Keep soaring higher, my friend.

At the exclusive premiere of Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, notable figures such as Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, Dia Mirza, Jimmy Sheirgill, Sonam Bajwa, the actor couple Sargun Mehta and Ravi Dubey, Sharad Kelkar, Sumona Chakravarti, among others graced the occasion. Additionally, Sunny and Vicky’s parents, Sham Kaushal (father) and Veena Kaushal (mother), were present at the event as well.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Taapsee Pannu explained that Haseen Dillruba was initially set for release in 2020, coinciding with her film Thappad. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused delays and it didn’t come out until 2021. Reflecting on the situation, she said, “When Haseen Dillruba finally hit the screens in 2021, I had intended to star in two movies a year. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, only one film (Thappad) was released in 2020, and then everything else got pushed back and ended up being released together!”

Once more, two of her films, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba and Khel Khel Mein, are set to premiere consecutively this month. Contrary to what she desired, Taapsee referred to the situation as “the other extreme.” However, it’s a comfort knowing that one will be available on a streaming platform while the other will play in cinemas. For those unaware, Khel Khel Mein features Akshay Kumar, Ammy Virk, Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal alongside Taapsee. The film is slated for a theatre release on August 15, 2024.
