As a seasoned gamer of both virtual and real-world timepieces, I must say the new Piaget Polo Skeleton Ceramic has caught my eye like no other watch at Watches & Wonders Shanghai. With three years of meticulous development behind it, this beauty is not just a testament to Piaget’s watchmaking prowess but also its dedication to pushing boundaries in the realm of materials and design.
For the very first time, Piaget has incorporated ceramic into their renowned Polo Skeleton collection. This groundbreaking addition was unveiled at Watches & Wonders Shanghai, where the Piaget Polo Skeleton Ceramic continues to demonstrate the Maison’s mastery in watchmaking by combining technical expertise with forward-thinking materials.
For a period of three years, the watch design underwent extensive development, with the primary hurdle being to flawlessly merge ceramic into the brand’s inherently thin structure. The final product boasts an impressive thickness of 7.5mm, making it only 1mm thicker than its steel and gold alternatives.
Wrapped in titanium, the watch casing is coated black through DLC treatment to harmonize with the dark color schemes of its ceramic parts. This timepiece primarily employs a monochromatic design, with the openworked dial subtly highlighted by blue accents. The indices, hands, and Piaget logo display a shimmering jewel blue hue but exhibit a luminescent aqua tint in the dark.
The Piaget Polo Skeleton Ceramic Watch is driven by an internal 1200S1 movement, a slender automatic winding mechanism showcasing a sleek black aesthetic. Accentuating the watch is a traditional Piaget rubber band in a coordinating black hue. This luxurious timepiece retails for approximately $42,900 USD/£36,700 GBP and can be explored further via Piaget’s official website.
