Pierce Brosnan heaped praises on his “MobLand” co-star, Helen Mirren, during the U.K. premiere of the Guy Ritchie-led Paramount series.
Previously known for his role in James Bond films, the actor recently shared insights with The Hollywood Reporter at a red-carpet event in London’s Leicester Square. He discussed his initial collaboration with Mirren in the 1980 film, “The Long Good Friday.” In Ritchie’s upcoming production, “MobLand,” premiering on Paramount+ on March 30, the actor and Mirren reteam as the crime duo Conrad and Maeve Harrigan. Meanwhile, Tom Hardy portrays their associate, Harry Da Souza, serving as their fixer.
In an interview with THR, Brosnan shared that he genuinely enjoys being around Helen and holds her work in high regard. He finds her to be stunningly beautiful and has long admired her from afar. Remarkably, his initial film was alongside hers, although it wasn’t a traditional co-starring role. Instead, he appeared briefly in the movie titled “The Long Good Friday.
He described her as a highly energetic and talented woman, an exceptional actress. She’s filled with passion and depth, which he admires deeply,” the Irish actor stated.
Initially conceived as “The Donovans,” a prequel to the Showtime series “Ray Donovan” by Ronan Bennett and Jez Butterworth, MobLand eventually transformed into a self-contained tale after undergoing significant revisions.
At the #MobLand premiere, Pierce Brosnan expresses admiration for his co-star Helen Mirren, reminiscing about their collaboration in his debut film, #TheLongGoodFriday, which he has appreciated from a distance over the years.

In an overcrowded television landscape, Brosnan discusses what he believes sets this series apart and how he managed to convince Mirren to join him during the filming of Chris Columbus’ “The Thursday Murder Club.” He says, “It still remains to be seen what it offers, but I honestly think it has a lot to give. I believe it’s a potent story. One of the reasons I agreed to it is because it’s brilliantly written by Jez Butterworth.
Ronan Bennett significantly contributed to the project along with Guy Ritchie as a co-creator. Upon receiving the five episodes, I agreed immediately. Then I asked Helen if she was interested since we were already working on the “Thursday Murder Club”. She replied that she would read it and indeed, she did. Her response? “I adore it! I’m in!
“Then came the great Tom Hardy. And we’re off to the races.”
Ritchie, Hardy, Mirren, along with actors Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, and Jasmine Jobson were all present at the Thursday night premiere.
At the event, executive producer and director Anthony Byrne was radiating positivity and showering praise on his actors. He expressed that he hasn’t had a cast as exceptional as this one for a single show before. “I believe that’s really captivating for the audience to witness the combination of talents like Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren,” he shared with THR. “Just that trio is enough to make it distinctive.
Bryne shared that the atmosphere on set was consistently positive. He had previously worked with Tom (from Peaky Blinders), which made it enjoyable to collaborate again. Instead of a brief appearance as Alfie Solomon, he relished the opportunity to explore the story’s arc and character development in depth. This experience was particularly exciting for him. Interestingly, he found it not intimidating to be around Helen and Pierce, despite their prominent status.
