Planned Terrorist Attack at Taylor Swift Concert Was Intended to Kill “Tens of Thousands of People,” CIA Official Says

As a gamer who has attended numerous concerts, including some of Taylor Swift‘s, I can’t help but feel a chill down my spine when I hear about such tragic incidents that could have potentially happened at her shows. The fact that a terrorist plot was planned to kill tens of thousands of people, including many Americans, is truly chilling. It’s a stark reminder of the world we live in and the dangers that lurk around us.

A planned terroristic incident at a Taylor Swift concert tour stop in Vienna had aims to cause mass casualties, potentially impacting tens of thousands of attendees, with a focus on harming American citizens, as reported by the deputy director of the CIA.

At the yearly Intelligence Summit, right outside our nation’s capital Washington D.C., on a Wednesday, I had the privilege of learning about an update from David S. Cohen regarding the ongoing probe into the foiled terrorist plot that recently forced the cancellation of my beloved pop star’s concerts in Vienna.

According to a statement made by Cohen, reported by The New York Times, there were plans to murder a large quantity of people, approximately tens of thousands, at an upcoming concert. Cohen expressed his certainty that many Americans would have been among the victims. The Austrian authorities managed to make these arrests because they received intelligence about the ISIS-linked group’s intended actions from their own agency and our international intelligence partners.

On August 7th, Barracuda Music, an Austrian concert promoter, declared that the three shows of the Eras Tour initially planned at the Ernst Happel Stadium had to be called off due to a suspected terror threat. Subsequently, Austrian authorities apprehended three individuals on charges of planning this attack, one of whom was found in possession of materials used for making explosives.

Cohen strongly asserted that the intention behind the plot was undeniably to target the Eras Tour performance, resulting in a significant loss of lives among the audience members.

After the termination of her performances, Swift finally spoke out about the impending threats, as well as expressing appreciation towards the authorities. “The cancellation of our Vienna shows was heartbreaking,” she posted on Instagram. “The reason for the cancellations instilled a fresh wave of fear in me, and an overwhelming sense of guilt because so many people had planned to attend those shows.”

The superstar went on to say, “Yet, I was deeply thankful towards the authorities as it was concerts we mourned instead of lives. Witnessing the affection and solidarity among the fans who united really warmed my heart.”

Cohen didn’t reveal the method through which the CIA gained knowledge about the upcoming attack. According to The Times, it was anticipated that around 200,000 individuals would attend Swift’s concerts in Vienna.
