As a die-hard Pokémon Go enthusiast with over a decade of gaming experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the New Year’s event promises to be nothing short of spectacular! The festive atmosphere, themed Pokémon, and increased Shiny rates have always been a highlight for me.
Starting from December 30th and lasting until January 1st, 2025, Pokémon Go will be celebrating the New Year by bringing back its yearly holiday event. During this period, you’ll find themed rewards, unique Pokémon appearances, and numerous opportunities to make your 2025 start remarkable.
Pokémon GO is wrapping up its year with a unique Community Day event where past Community Day Pokémon will reappear. This event takes place from December 21st to 22nd, and a week later, you’ll have the opportunity to join in on all the new activities during the New Year’s celebration.
A standout feature at this event is capturing Pokémon using an Excellent Throw will reward you with 2,025 XP points. As you journey through, don’t forget to gaze at the dazzling fireworks illuminating the sky during the celebration. The entire atmosphere will be enriched with New Year decorations, enhancing your overall experience.
At the gathering, keep an eye out for Pokémon following specific themes being spotted more often. You may encounter Jigglypuff adorned with a bow, Hoothoot dressed up for New Year’s, and Wurmple sporting a party hat, among others, in greater numbers in the wild. With a bit of luck, you might stumble upon their Shiny versions too.
During this festive season, one-star raids will present you with Pikachu adorned in a snowflake beanie, while three-star raids will offer Raticate and Wobbuffet, both donning party hats. Notably, all these characters have higher chances of appearing as Shinies during the event.
If you prefer quests, participate in Field Research and Time-limited Research tasks to experience more Pokemon encounters. Additionally, a Paid Time-limited Research for $2 provides unique rewards like three Premium Battle Passes, three Lucky Eggs, 2,025 Stardust, and interactions with event Pokemon.
Currently, the Ultra Holiday Box is still available in the Pokémon GO online store for $4.99. This box comes with enhancements for your Pokémon Storage and Item Bag, as well as 17 Rare Candies. Additionally, don’t forget to claim some free bonuses!
