Pokémon Go unveils new details for Go Fest 2025 and celebrates nine years since launch

It speaks volumes about Niantic that many people have referred to the release of Pokemon Go as being “the closest we’ve ever come to global harmony,” or something similar. Even after nine years, I believe most of us, regardless of age, can recall the extraordinary moment when they made the impossible seem possible by introducing Pokemon into our real world.

Nine years after its initial release, Pokémon Go is planning a special event to commemorate nearly a decade in existence starting from July 1st to July 6th. During this period, you’ll have the chance to meet new costumed Pokémons. Ivysaur and Venusaur will don party hats, while Gimmighoul will be seen with an attractive 9th anniversary coin.

For the ninth anniversary festivities, you’ll also find a variety of additional perks to motivate you to explore. These include a higher probability of meeting Friendship-boosting Pokémon, encountering Luckier versions of Pokémon, and PokeStops transforming into gold without requiring Golden Lure Modules, along with several other exciting bonuses.

But it’s not just the ninth anniversary to look forward to! There are also those aforementioned details of the upcoming Go Fest 2025. Taking place from the 28th to the 29th, you can either jump in for free or upgrade with an event ticket.

Regardless of payment, there’s a wealth of content to explore, as various Pokémon themed around events can be found on both Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, a range of event bonuses are also offered. This steam-inspired festival will provide special avatar items, some obtainable through the Go Pass and others via the in-game shop for the event.
