With Switch 2 generating much excitement in the gaming world, some enthusiasts speculated that Nintendo might abandon their existing system. However, it’s been confirmed that the company is not yet done supporting its current platform, as they are still planning to release Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond this year. This assures fans who can’t upgrade right away that there are high-quality games on the horizon.
In the latest financial report from our company, it became clear that these two significant game releases are still headed for the Nintendo Switch. Some people had speculated that these games would be cross-platform with the potential Switch 2, but given recent developments, this seems quite plausible. We anticipate seeing more of such cross-generational titles before Nintendo fully commits to their new system.
Fans were taken aback when they learned that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond would indeed be released on the Nintendo Switch, given the series’ history of delays. Some fans speculated that the game might have been designed for a future Switch model, but it became evident that this was not the case after playing the superior remake of Metroid Prime. However, it is comforting to know that the Switch will offer some top-notch Metroid games before its end.
Regarding Pokémon Legends: Z-A, this isn’t a title many fans anticipated for the Nintendo Switch initially. Given the positive response to Legends: Arceus, it’s not surprising that Game Freak is developing Z-A. It’s peculiar that a significant Pokémon game is appearing in the last relevant year of the system, but Nintendo has followed a similar pattern with the DS and 3DS.
It’s expected that both games will probably receive performance enhancements on the Switch 2, but we hope it’s not just these two games that get updates. Of course, many of us would love to see significant updates for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, despite being playable on the current Switch system. Similarly, Batman: Arkham Knight and Mortal Kombat 1 could greatly benefit from major patches.
