Peacock is hitting the road again with Poker Face.
The live broadcaster has announced that season two of their weekly mystery show, featuring Natasha Lyonne in the lead role as a woman with the ability to detect lies, will debut this spring. In addition to evading her pursuers, she employs her unique talent to unravel murders at each of her stops along the way.
Peacock unveiled a number of images for the upcoming, expanded 12-episode series (an increase from the 10 episodes in the first season), showcasing Charlie Cale, played by Lyonne, and various actors set to make guest appearances during the new season.
The guest star lineup for this season is quite impressive, including (arranged alphabetically): Awkwafina, John Cho, Sherry Cola, Kevin Corrigan, Cynthia Erivo, Giancarlo Esposito, Davionte “GaTa” Ganter, Patti Harrison, Corey Hawkins, Gaby Hoffmann, Katie Holmes, Carol Kane, David Krumholtz, Melanie Lynskey, Ben Marshall, Margo Martindale, John Mulaney, Kumail Nanjiani, Katherine Narducci, B.J. Novak, Ego Nwodim, Haley Joel Osment, Simon Rex, Sam Richardson, Jason Ritter, Alia Shawkat, Cliff “Method Man” Smith and Justin Theroux. Peacock has also hinted that even more names are set to be revealed.
At the end of season one, Charlie managed to defeat her adversary, casino fixer Cliff (Benjamin Bratt). However, instead of finding peace, another suspicious figure, Beatrix Hasp played by Rhea Perlman, appeared and offered her a choice: work for her or face being hunted once more. Opting for the open road, Charlie found herself in a familiar predicament reminiscent of the challenges she faced at the beginning of the series.

Rian Johnson, the show’s creator and executive producer, expressed his eagerness to see how they can adhere to the format while taking it a step further with unexpected elements in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter following the end of season one. Additionally, he can hardly wait to attract more talented actors for guest roles.
Along with the photos, Johnson and Lyonne also had this to say about season two:
In the second season, we’ve escalated Charlie Cale’s escapades as she embarks on a series of murder investigations. From the minor leagues of baseball to the bustling world of retail giants, from funeral homes to alligator farms and even a school talent show, Charlie traverses her crime-solving journey with her unique blend of deadpan humor, compassion, and exceptional lie-detecting skills.

In season two, we’ve amped up Charlie Cale’s escapades as she delves into a succession of murder mysteries. Ranging from minor league baseball to the retail realm, funeral homes to alligator farms and even school talent shows, Charlie navigates her crime-solving odyssey with her trademark deadpan wit, empathy, and exceptional lie-detection abilities.

To breathe life into season two, we drew visual influences from ’70s American cinema, particularly the works of Robert Altman, Bob Rafelson, Peter Bogdanovich. However, the foundation of this series lies in television – the kind of TV we were raised on, with episodic mysteries reminiscent of shows like Columbo, The Rockford Files, and Quantum Leap. Each episode stands alone, offering a self-contained narrative with its own distinct atmosphere and character roster, populated by an array of offbeat guest stars. It’s hard to believe we got the chance to collaborate with some incredible talents like Cynthia Erivo, Katie Holmes, John Mulaney, and Awkwafina (and numerous others, the list is quite impressive), all of whom embraced their roles with enthusiasm and came prepared to perform.
Twelve killer new episodes are coming your way. Buckle up and see you on the road!

I’m in charge of season 2 of “Tony Tost” while Nora and Lilla move to work on a new Buffy; we all serve as executive producers, with Johnson and Lyonne also writing and directing; Ram Bergman, Nena Rodrigue, Adam Arkin, and the Zuckerman sisters are also EPs; T-Street, MRC, and Animal Pictures are the production companies.)
