Hollywood-like figure Poonam Dhillon experienced a burglary at her home in Khar, resulting in the loss of approximately 100,000 rupees worth of jewelry, 35,000 rupees in cash, and around 42,923 rupees in US dollars. The perpetrator was a member of a painting team that had worked at her residence during the holiday season, who managed to execute the theft while she was away. Although Poonam usually lives with her son Anmol in Juhu, she occasionally stays at the Khar property, which was the focus of this crime. The authorities have detained one individual in relation to the incident.
According to a report in Free Press Journal, on January 6th, police in Khar apprehended Sameer Ansari, aged 37, for the suspicion of burglarizing Poonam Dhillon’s residence in Khar West, a Bollywood actress. Among the items reportedly taken were a diamond earring valued at approximately one hundred thousand rupees, thirty-five thousand rupees in cash, and five hundred US dollars.
During the timeframe from December 28 to January 5, Ansari – one of the artists working on a project at the actress’s home – discovered an unsecured cabinet full of valuable possessions and decided to exploit this situation by stealing them. Upon seeing the open cabinet, he took advantage and made off with the items. It has been reported that following this incident, Ansari utilized approximately Rs. 9,000 to host a celebration for his fellow team members.
The incident of theft became known when Anmol, Poonam’s son, arrived back in India from Dubai on January 5 and discovered some belongings were absent. Upon informing his mother, further discussions with household staff led to the actress’s manager submitting a police report.
Upon questioning the painting team, Ansari admitted to the theft, leading to his arrest.
