As a gamer who’s been through his fair share of virtual battles and life’s real-world challenges, I can say that Powers Pleasant‘s latest album, Life Sucks, is an absolute banger! This production powerhouse has outdone himself with this 13-track masterpiece.
Brooklyn-based music producer Powers Pleasant has finally unveiled his second studio album, titled “Life Sucks.” This highly anticipated project features a diverse group of 21 artists, including collaborator Denzel Curry from the album “Melt My Eyez See Your Future,” along with Joey Bada$$, DC The Don, Saba, A$AP Ferg, and several others.
Across 13 tracks, Powers Pleasant has brought together a diverse group of artists including Hannah Mundine, Armani Caesar, Meechy Darko, Soulja Livin Tru, $not, Dro Kenji, Mike Dimes, AG Club, AUDREY NUNA, P-Lo, Guapdad4000, Jasiah, Tkay Maidza, CJ Fly, Nyck Caution and Aaron Rose to collaborate. The release began with the singles “Rumble” featuring Bada$$ and “Shmoke” featuring Ferg and Caesar. This was followed by four additional tracks that were previously teased and leaked earlier in the week.
The album is described by its producer as a reflection of his personal experiences and external factors, molded by the tumultuous events in his life.
“I’ve always absorbed my surroundings and turned them into art. While making this album, life really did suck—COVID-19 was everywhere, BLM protests were happening in Brooklyn where I lived, and the future felt uncertain. In the middle of it all, I turned to creating music as my escape from depression. Surprisingly, despite the chaos, I realized life isn’t all bad—it helped me find myself and see beauty in the madness. From the high-energy tracks like ‘Rumble’ and ‘Shmoke’ to the deeper, introspective songs like ‘That’s Tough’ and ‘Know Me Now,’ Life Sucks captures the highs and lows of life.”

As a music enthusiast, I’m excited to share some of the tracks I’ve been vibing to lately! Here they are:
The new album follows up on Powers Pleasant’s first album, “Life Is Beautiful,” released in 2019 with eight songs, serving as its successor.
My path to this album wasn’t straightforward. Eight years ago, I secured a deal, yet the rights to my music were not mine. Various label transitions left me in an uncertain state during the production of Life Is Beautiful and its follow-up. Despite the challenges, I persevered and relocated to Los Angeles amidst the pandemic. After arduous discussions, I eventually found a suitable place at Mass Appeal, where I enjoy both artistic autonomy and ownership. This album isn’t merely music; it encapsulates resilience and staying dedicated to your craft. Life Sucks narrates my tale—a challenging, bittersweet odyssey marked by highs and lows.
