Preity Zinta BREAKS silence on joining politics; Lahore 1947 actress says ‘Parties have offered…’

Preity Zinta, known for her stellar performances in Bollywood during the 2000s, stepped away from films after moving to Los Angeles following her marriage to Gene Goodenough. Now, she’s gearing up for a spectacular return with Lahore 1947. In a Q&A session on X, fans were excited to hear about her future projects and some even speculated if politics might be in her plans.

One spectator inquired of Preity Zinta, “You’re indeed a ‘Soldier,’ dear Preity! Kudos to you! Just wondering, do you have any intentions of entering politics?” To this, the actress responded, “No, I’m staying away from politics. Over time, several political parties have extended invitations for me to run as a candidate and even offered Rajya Sabha seats, but I graciously turned them down because it’s not my calling.

She said, “Being called a soldier isn’t entirely off the mark since I am a daughter and sister of soldiers. We, military children, are uniquely wired. We don’t identify as North Indians, South Indians, Himachalis, Bengalis, or any specific regional group. Instead, we proudly identify as simply Indian 🇮🇳. And yes, our love for our country and national pride runs deep in our veins. If you understand, you understand.

A different admirer posed this question to the actress: “Given the experiences you’ve had (political attacks), have they influenced or altered your political views in any way?

She responded, “I’m taken aback by the toxic nature of social media in India and how everything is measured through a political lens. I’m neither a politician nor do I have any interest in politics, but as an ordinary person, I find this extremely troubling. However, let it be known that I’m not someone who can be easily intimidated or bullied. Anyone who tries will encounter strong resistance.

Preity Zinta is getting ready for her comeback on the silver screen. In the upcoming movie titled “Lahore 1947”, she will act alongside Sunny Deol. This film is supported by Aamir Khan Productions.

As the eagerness for the project grew, director Rajkumar Santoshi fueled the suspense by disclosing that music genius AR Rahman and esteemed lyricist Javed Akhtar were also joining in.
