Preity Zinta REACTS to allegations of Rs 18 crore loan write-off; ‘More than 12 years ago…’

Preity Zinta refuted speculations about the New India Cooperative Bank forgiving a loan worth 18 crores. She declared these reports as false, explaining that the overdraft had been fully paid off more than a decade ago.

As reported by Times Now, Preity Zinta’s legal team explained that an overdraft was taken out approximately 12 years ago. They went on to say that the entire debt was paid off over a decade ago, following which she closed the account.

In response to recent reports, her legal team released a statement on her behalf: “Over a dozen years back, I had an outstanding loan with New India Cooperative Bank. Over a decade ago, I fully repaid all the debts associated with that loan, and since then, the account has been closed.

According to an investigation by Moneylife, financial misconduct and suspected corruption within the bank have been exposed. It was discovered during the probe that corporate loans amounting up to 250 crore rupees were approved without the knowledge of branch managers, with Preity Zinta’s name surfacing as one of the recipients. Consequently, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has been compelled to impose stern measures on the bank’s activities.

As a lifestyle advocate, I’ve recently joined forces with the esteemed Veer Zaara actress in standing up against the increasing negativity on social media. In a powerful tweet, we both expressed our concerns about the rising skepticism online, emphasizing that innocent dialogues are frequently misunderstood.

She voiced her annoyance at the presumptions that talking about AI bots is considered a form of paid endorsement, criticizing the PM is seen as being a “critic,” and openly identifying oneself as a devoted Hindu or patriotic Indian often results in being labeled an “unquestioning supporter.

She advised people to foster a more open attitude, suggesting they engage in sincere conversations and strive for positive communication as a means of connection.

In terms of her professional life, Preity Zinta is set to appear in the upcoming historical drama titled “Lahore 1947”. This movie features Sunny Deol as the main character, while Abhimanyu Singh takes on the role of the villain.

Under the direction of Rajkumar Santoshi and the production house Aamir Khan Productions, this upcoming movie is adapted from the renowned Punjabi play titled “Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai.” As previously announced, the film is presently undergoing editing, with Aamir Khan targeting a cinematic debut in August 2025.
