Presidential Candidates Face Off in a Game of ‘Family Feud’ During ‘SNL’ Cold Open

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours navigating through the virtual worlds of political satire games, I must say that Saturday Night Live never ceases to amaze me with its uncanny ability to mirror real-life politics in such an entertaining fashion. The Family Feud: Election Edition episode was no exception. Maya Rudolph’s portrayal of Kamala Harris and James Austin Johnson’s take on Donald Trump were spot-on, making it feel like I was watching a live broadcast from the campaign trail.

Saturday Night Live came up with an innovative plan for Donald Trump and Kamala Harris to engage in a final encounter prior to the election day, even though Trump reportedly declined further debates.

Maya Rudolph’s character Harris and James Austin Johnson’s portrayal of Trump crossed paths yet again, but this time it happened on the stage of Family Feud, with Kenan Thompson playing the role of Steve Harvey.

Steve Harvey has explained that over the last 20 years, he’s been busy hosting numerous television shows as a cover for attending Diddy’s parties. Tonight, however, there are two political opponents appearing on the show.

Next, he presented the Democrats’ team consisting of Kamala Harris (Rudolph), Governor Tim Walz (Jim Gaffigan), President Joe Biden (Dana Carvey), and Douglas Emhoff (Andy Samberg). On the Republican side, it featured Donald Trump (Johnson), J.D. Vance (Bowen Yang), Donald Trump Jr. (Mikey Day), with Melania Trump absent.

It’s great to be here, Steve. I’m thrilled to see someone earning millions at their job, particularly in the entertainment industry,” Harris remarks, following the host’s introduction and mention of her extensive media appearances this week. “This week has been quite eventful. I appeared on Howard Stern’s show to connect with taxi drivers. On The View, I addressed moms, and on the podcast Call Her Daddy, I shared a message with young women: if you want the government out of your personal matters, make sure to vote!

Ariana Grande came back to Studio 8H on a Saturday to once again host SNL, having made her hosting debut there in 2016. Previously, she had been the musical guest during Josh Brolin’s episode last season. This time around, Stevie Nicks served as the musical act.

More to come.
