Princess Diana To Be Subject of New Docuseries From Depp v. Heard Team

Princess Diana To Be Subject of New Docuseries From Depp v. Heard Team

As a movie critic who has been covering the world of entertainment for over three decades, I’ve seen my fair share of docuseries and documentaries, but none have captured the public’s imagination quite like those centered around the lives and deaths of legendary figures. From Marilyn Monroe to Johnny Depp, these stories continue to captivate audiences, leaving us yearning for more insights into their lives and untimely demises.

A new docuseries focusing on Princess Diana is in production by the team responsible for popular Netflix productions like ‘Depp v. Heard’ and ‘The Enigma of Marilyn Monroe’. Princess Diana, also known as the Princess of Wales, tragically passed away along with her companion Dodi Fayed and their driver, Henri Paul, in Paris on August 31, 1997. Over time, various theories have surfaced about the circumstances surrounding her death, and Diana has been a recurring subject in documentaries, news programs, TV shows, and movies.

By the Stipulated Date, “Who Killed Diana?” is a three-part documentary series, jointly produced by EverWonder Studio and Empress Films – the same production company behind previous Netflix releases. Similar to its predecessors, this new Diana documentary will include exclusive, first-time interviews with individuals closely associated with the events leading up to her demise, aiming to shed fresh insight on a case that has intrigued global audiences for many years.

Emma Cooper, the chief of Empress Films, is set to direct the docuseries titled “Who Killed Diana?.” Emma expressed her deep-seated enthusiasm for delving into the lives of legendary women, and she anticipates that this series will unveil fresh insights about the death of Princess Diana, information previously unknown to the public.

“Unraveling the stories of extraordinary women through investigative documentaries is something I’m deeply passionate about. Similar to our work on ‘The Marilyn Monroe Enigma‘, we’ve delved into narratives that people thought they were familiar with and unearthed unsuspecting truths. My aim is to present this iconic woman’s story from fresh angles, incorporating unique insights, diverse viewpoints, and previously undisclosed details. I feel incredibly fortunate to collaborate with Ian, Jon, and the entire Everworder team, who have not only been excellent partners but true creative allies.”

How Much ‘Untold Information’ Can There Be About Princess Diana?

27 years have passed since Princess Diana’s death on that fateful August night in 1997, and ever since, there has been an unquenchable fascination among the public about the circumstances leading up to the crash inside the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris. A French investigation concluded that the accident was due to alcohol and prescription drugs found in Paul, along with reckless driving brought on by the paparazzi who were relentlessly chasing the group of three seeking to photograph Diana and Fayed together.

Even though the formal inquiry has ended, a plethora of conspiracy theories have circulated over time suggesting various scenarios such as MI6’s involvement or even King Charles being the mastermind. As a result, numerous books have been written, documentaries created, and interviews held with almost everyone imaginable. This leads to the intriguing question: how much fresh information can there be regarding her demise?

We’re hoping that Who Killed Diana? will at least be able to put to rest some of those theories, and not just feature a random new interview with a retired police officer who reiterates how chaotic the scene was that night. Given the track record of Cooper’s previous productions, we’ll keep our fingers crossed that she’ll be able to do Diana’s story justice, and not just rehash a story that’s been told dozens of times before. There’s no word yet on if the docuseries will land at Netflix, but we’ll have more information as it becomes available.
