In a remarkable feat, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, and Dia Mirza made history by claiming the titles of Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss Asia Pacific International respectively in the same year. More than two decades later, Dia has shared an evocative throwback post, which is sure to stir feelings of nostalgia. The photo featuring the actresses with Shah Rukh Khan is simply too captivating to ignore.
23rd January, 2025, I reminisced over an Instagram post by Dia Mirza, featuring snapshots from the Miss India pageant of 2000. In these pictures, she stood alongside fellow contestants like Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta, as well as esteemed former winners such as Sushmita Sen, Aishwarya Rai, and Diana Hayden. Another image captured a sweet moment of me planting a kiss on Lara’s cheek. The final slide showcased us, along with Priyanka, in the company of Shah Rukh Khan.
Dia’s caption says, “I’m reminiscing about the dawn of a brand-new century – January 15th, 2000. The Miss India pageant she referred to was quite a sight, and each contestant has since written their unique chapter.
The famous Dhak Dhak actress referred to the judges, comprising Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Anjolie Ela Menon, Carolina Herrera, Marcus Swarovski, Pritish Nandy, Mohammed Azharuddin, and Waheeda Rehman, as “legends” or “timeless figures.
Dia Mirza’s throwback post:

Reflecting on the incredible experience during our photoshoot alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Dia reminisced, “Backstage immediately after our win, we had an unforgettable moment. A starstruck Hyderabadi girl who’d always cherished him deeply was left speechless! The cover photo serves as proof.
She added, “It’s been 25 years since this paradigm shift. And I am grateful for it.”
Speaking about Lara Bhupathi and Priyanka Chopra, Dia expressed her affection for them, stating “I adore and look up to you two! That remarkable year, we created history together by bagging all three international titles.
In the comment area, Lara Dutta noted that their friendship and camaraderie endures to this day. She expressed gratitude for having experienced this journey alongside them, considering it a ‘blessing’ instead of a ‘privilege’.
