‘Priyanka Chopra itni badi star hogai’, says Anil Sharma on not collaborating with her after The Hero; ‘Unke layak koi film…’

Priyanka Chopra has made a significant impact in both Indian (Bollywood) and American (Hollywood) cinema, earning a dedicated fanbase at home and abroad. In a recent conversation, director Anil Sharma revealed his past relationship with the actress and explained that “Priyanka Chopra had become such a huge star that no film was suitable for her” following their collaboration on The Hero, as the reason behind not working together again.

During a chat with Vickey Lalwani, Anil Sharma discussed his significant remarks about Priyanka Chopra’s near-start in the industry, which was partly due to him. He explained that an operation affecting her complexion led her to ponder leaving showbiz. With their father already settled in Raebareli, the family was on the verge of relocating. Moreover, Sharma had reached out to Sunil Darshan and recommended Priyanka to Subhash Ghai.

Sharma made it clear that he played no part in Chopra’s accomplishments, attributing them solely to her natural ability. In other words, he said that since she was so talented, destiny brought helpful individuals into her life, and he could have been one of those people who provided support for her.

Sharma added that he and Priyanka continue to have a close, familial connection. He reminisced about how, when they bump into each other in public, she always seeks him out personally. Furthermore, he pointed out that their families had shared cultural ties since both of them originate from Uttar Pradesh, with his father being a skilled musician.

Anil Sharma stated that since Priyanka Chopra had skyrocketed to stardom following their film “The Hero,” he found it challenging to find a fitting character for her in the roles of his later projects.

He mentioned that at the time Gadar was produced, she hadn’t entered the entertainment industry, and by the time she became well-known, he hadn’t been involved in any projects of a scale commensurate with her growing reputation.

In creating Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Sathiyo, Sharma mentioned that his primary focus was on introducing Divya Khosla Kumar. Katrina Kaif, who was relatively unknown at the time, was given a minor part, while Shilpa Shetty played the role of a mother with a child. He acknowledged that he didn’t think it was fair to offer that role to Priyanka, although she might have taken it.
