Priyanka Chopra’s parents arranged THIS as ‘consolation prize’ for her because they didn’t think she would win Miss World

As an ardent fan of the extraordinary Priyanka Chopra, I find it simply fascinating to delve into her remarkable journey. Her story is a testament to grit, determination, and unwavering resilience that has not only made India proud but has also inspired millions around the globe.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must say, it was a moment of immense pride when Priyanka Chopra clinched the Miss World 2000 title at the tender age of eighteen. Yet, little did we know that her parents, Madhu and Ashok Chopra, had their doubts about their daughter’s chance of winning the pageant. In an intriguing revelation, they admitted to having already made travel plans as a ‘consolation prize’ for their young prodigy.

On the Something Bigger Show’s podcast, Madhu Chopra conversed with Rodrigo Canelas. They discussed Priyanka Chopra’s resilience and ambition. Madhu shared an anecdote about her daughter, revealing that she put in tremendous effort to compete in the Miss India beauty pageant. Chopra also mentioned that Priyanka had never worn high-heels, specifically stilettos, prior to this event. To improve her performance during training, she would practice walking by observing Fashion TV at night.

Later on, Madhu Chopra discussed Priyanka participating in the Miss World contest. She revealed that it was their first time traveling overseas as a family. Chopra also shared why they believed Priyanka might not win: “We weren’t confident she would win because the year before, Miss India had already won the title of Miss World, so another consecutive win seemed unlikely.

Regarding planning an extensive journey for Priyanka, the doctor expressed, “Since we felt certain about it, we went ahead and purchased travel tickets spanning Europe and America as a thoughtful gesture for her and us three.” Chopra clarified that despite the high cost, they were eagerly anticipating this trip.

It was also shared that Priyanka’s father believed she would be deeply upset if she didn’t win, so it was a present for her. Interestingly enough, Priyanka went on to win the title of Miss World. Her mother jokingly mentioned that they had to curtail their travel plans due to the unexpected victory.

In September 2024, Priyanka Chopra joined her husband Nick Jonas at London’s O2 Arena for his birthday celebration. Their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas was with them too. Reflecting on her Miss World title won in the same location 24 years prior (which was known as the Millennium Dome back then), Priyanka reminisced, “Twenty-four years ago, I was crowned Miss World here. My 18-year-old self, filled with excitement, nervousness, and competitiveness, strived to shine and do my best.

On the work front, Priyanka has been shooting for her spy series Citadel Season 2.
