I thought I had everything under control when I placed an order from Amazon India in early January 2025. The estimated delivery date was provided and the package arrived shortly thereafter. Yet, the box presented some obvious concerns right away. It was damaged, already opened, and heavily taped with brown adhesive, suggesting it had been manipulated. Additionally, the manufacturing date on the box hinted at the PS5 potentially being from a batch produced more than a year prior, possibly even intended for the initial, slimmer model launch.

1. The buyer found enough reasons to doubt the shipment, so they chose to contact Amazon customer service rather than immediately opening the package. By the time the delivery person arrived, the situation had grown increasingly peculiar.

2. With sufficient cause for suspicion, the buyer opted to get in touch with Amazon’s customer service instead of instantly unboxing the item. As it turned out, the circumstances surrounding the delivery became even more strange by the time the courier arrived.

3. The buyer felt that something wasn’t quite right about the package, so they decided to contact Amazon customer service before opening it. When the courier came, the situation had already taken on a curious turn.

Anticipating issues, the purchaser reached out to Amazon, sending pictures of the damaged packaging and the unboxing process. Initially, Amazon declined to issue a refund, claiming the right product was delivered. Nevertheless, there might be more to this situation than meets the eye.

Perhaps the buyer, upon finding the damaged packaging and questionable situation, may have chosen to manipulate the system instead. After all, they could have kept the original item and substituted a PS3 in hopes of receiving a refund. While it’s a bit complicated, it’s not entirely out of the question.

If a buyer finds a PS3 instead of a PS4 in the box, it could indicate questionable practices by the seller or carelessness in the warehouse. The remedy? Be meticulous about documentation. Make it a routine to record the unboxing if you’re planning to buy something pricey, as this can serve as proof should there be any issues.
