PUBG Mobile touts results of its Conservancy Event with 750k square feet of land protected

  • PUBG Mobile is touting the results of its Conservancy Event from its Play for Green Initiative
  • Players have helped protect a whopping 750k square foot of land
  • 20 million players participated in the Run for Green event

It turns out that gaming can be quite effective in preserving our planet. Even though gaming devices such as consoles, smartphones, and computers require a significant amount of energy and resources, the enthusiasm of gamers has also contributed to raising funds for environmental protection. For instance, PUBG Mobile has highlighted their efforts in this area through their recent conservation campaign results.

In PUBG Mobile’s “Play for Green” initiative, gamers ventured through two unique versions of the Erangel map to illustrate the impact of climate change. Simultaneously, during the “Run for Green” event, players collectively ran a staggering 4.8 billion kilometers. This virtual exertion translated into actual conservation efforts by safeguarding approximately 750,000 square acres of precious ecosystems in Pakistan, Indonesia, and Brazil.

Although it can be challenging to quantify the impact that PUBG Mobile has on stimulating discussions about climate change, which is less tangible data, it’s clear that passionate fans like yourselves have significantly contributed to this cause in meaningful ways.

Greened up

It’s undeniable that PUBG Mobile’s conservation efforts have made a difference, as evidenced by their win at the 2024 Playing for the Planet awards for the Play for Green initiative. Whether or not these initiatives have truly connected with players is uncertain, but I believe the strategy of hosting events and offering exclusive digital rewards that support real-world conservation efforts is a shrewd approach.

I’d like to acknowledge that efforts were made to turn this into an educational experience, even if many attendees were primarily there for the freebies. Nonetheless, I believe some of you may have picked up something along the way.
