Rachel Maddow Bringing Her First Feature-Length Film to MSNBC

As a dedicated follower of political news and current events, I am absolutely thrilled about Rachel Maddow diving into the feature documentary business! Her latest project, “From Russia With Lev,” promises to be an engaging and insightful look into the complex web that led to Donald Trump’s first impeachment.

Rachel Maddow is getting into the feature documentary business.

As a dedicated admirer, I’m thrilled to share that I, the host of MSNBC, have brought my first full-length documentary to life under my production banner, Surprise Inside. Excitingly, our cable network has secured this project, and we’re all set to premiere the film next month on MSNBC. Can’t wait for you all to see it!

The movie titled “From Russia With Lev” narrates the series of events that culminated in the first impeachment of President Donald Trump. As described in its synopsis, it delves into the grandiose adventures of Lev Parnas, a Ukrainian-born entrepreneur with shady past ties to small-time mafia, who, through a seemingly chance encounter with Trump and his lawyer Rudolph Giuliani, was catapulted onto an international stage, eventually leading him to prison.

The movie is set to make its first public appearance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where MSNBC’s Democracy 2024 event will take place on September 7th. This premiere is a significant part of that event.

Billy Corben, known for “Cocaine Cowboys: The Kings of Miami,” took on the role of director. Rachel Maddow served as an executive producer. The production of this movie was a collaborative effort between rakontur, Universal Television’s Alternative Studio, and Corben himself.

As an avid enthusiast, I firmly believe we need more documentaries that offer a personal, behind-the-scenes look at the Trump presidency. A Mike Pence documentary would be enlightening, as would ones featuring John Kelly or Rex Tillerson. However, it takes a courageous individual like Lev Parnas to break the silence first. His tale is utterly captivating and hard to put down.

In the words of Corben, Lev Parnas’ tale is reminiscent of a Tom Clancy novel but starring Jackie Mason as Jack Ryan. This movie falls under the distinctive subgenre by rakontur known as ‘Florida Men Causing Mayhem with Global Political Implications.’

From Russia With Lev continues Maddow’s run as a multi-platform star for MSNBC.

Rachel Maddow, known for her self-titled show that airs on Monday evenings, also frequently reports on significant news events. Beyond this, she manages several podcasts under the company, such as Déjà News, Ultra, and Bag Man. Notably, both Bag Man and Ultra are being adapted into films, with Steven Spielberg and Ben Stiller respectively taking on the projects.
