Anticipation surrounds Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming movie adaptation of Ramayana, with Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash at the forefront. Despite Sai Pallavi not originally being cast as Sita in the film, it was Srinidhi Shetty who was initially chosen for the role and even performed a screen test. However, Srinidhi declined the part because she felt that, having worked with Yash in KGF 2, it would be unusual to see them portray romantic roles opposite each other.
For those unfamiliar, Ranbir is portraying Ram, while Yash is enacting Ravana in the epic Ramayana movie.
During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Srinidhi revealed that he underwent a screen test for the movie and mentioned, “I indeed took a screen test and interacted with them regarding Ramayana. I recall meticulously rehearsing three scenes. Their feedback was positive, and they appreciated my audition. Interestingly, I also heard that Yash was associated with Ramayana around the same time.
Additionally, she mentioned that concurrently, KGF 2 debuted and her acting alongside Yash was favorably accepted by viewers. Subsequently, within just two months, she found herself cast as his co-star in the Ramayana series.
The actress commented, “I felt like if he played Ravan and I played Sita, we’d be adversaries rather than partners. People would see us as deeply connected, but then they’d need to accept us again in an opposing role. Somewhere inside me, it seemed possibly challenging or maybe not.” Additionally, she expressed that it would feel odd to act alongside him.
Speaking about Sai Pallavi being cast as Sita in the Ramayana, Srinidhi Shetty expressed that it was an excellent selection and voiced her enthusiasm to witness Sai Pallavi portraying the role of Sita in the epic.
As a devoted cinema enthusiast, I eagerly anticipate the release of Ramayana, masterfully directed by Nitesh Tiwari in November 2026. This highly anticipated film boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, and Lara Dutta.
