Rapper Wiz Khalifa Arrested in Romania Over Illegal Drug Possession Charge

As a fan of Wiz Khalifa, I’m disappointed to hear about his recent arrest in Romania for illegal drug possession charges. It’s unfortunate that an incident like this occurred during what seemed to be an amazing performance at the Beach Please! Festival. I understand that cannabis is illegal for recreational use in Romania, and Wiz should have been aware of the local laws before taking the stage.

This past weekend, rapper Wiz Khalifa was taken into custody in Romania due to allegations of unlawful drug possession. Subsequently, he expressed remorse for the situation through his social media platforms.

At a music festival in ConstanČ›a county’s CostineČ™ti resort, Khalifa was discovered with more than 18 grams of cannabis (an illicit substance) and consumed an additional amount of cannabis concealed in the form of a handcrafted cigarette during a public performance. It is important to note that throughout the entire legal proceedings, those under investigation are entitled to the protections and rights afforded by Romania’s Criminal Procedure Code, including the presumption of innocence.

In Romania, it’s against the law to use cannabis for non-medical purposes. Khalifa attended the Beach Please! Festival over the weekend where he performed on a Saturday night. A clip circulating online depicts the rapper being taken out of the venue by law enforcement officers. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with having an illicit substance in his possession. However, he was later freed from police custody.

“The performance last night was extraordinary, Khalifa shared on X, previously known as Twitter. I didn’t intend to offend Romania by my on-stage actions. The organizers were gracious and accommodating, allowing me to continue. I look forward to returning soon. However, next time I hope to have a large marijuana joint with me.”
