As a seasoned gamer who has weathered countless festival storms and technical glitches, I can’t help but feel a pang of solidarity with Lana Del Rey. The Reading & Leeds Festival debacle was a classic case of a production team flubbing up big time, cutting the singer’s set short just as the fireworks were about to light up the night sky.
The Reading & Leeds Festival apologized for cutting Lana Del Rey‘s set short on Saturday night.
As I took the stage as the second-to-last headliner at the Reading segment of the Reading & Leeds festival, a fireworks display began to cap off my set. Unfortunately, my microphone cut out during the show, leaving me unable to continue performing for the final five minutes. Instead, I sat back and enjoyed the pyrotechnics with my enthusiastic fans.
“The Reading Festival team regrettably made a mistake during the production of Lana Del Rey’s fantastic set, causing it to end prematurely by 5 minutes. We deeply apologize to both Lana and her supporters for this oversight.”
Del Rey’s performance on Saturday was followed by a set from DJ producer Fred Again.
Additional details emerged indicating that the performer of “Normal Fucking Rockwell” started her set 10 to 15 minutes behind schedule. This year’s festival has been marred by poor weather conditions. Many attendees also criticized the sound quality, claiming they couldn’t hear performances due to the overwhelming volume of techno music. A review from The Telegraph stated, “The monarch of subtle pop music deserved a better experience than this disaster.”
The Hollywood Reporter contacted both the festival and Lana Del Rey seeking their comments. It has been confirmed that Lana Del Rey will perform at the Leeds segment of the festival this coming Sunday.
