Reba McEntire has been juggling two roles for NBC – as a coach on “The Voice” and in the new hit sitcom “Happy’s Place”. In 2023, she joined the singing competition series during its 24th season, continuing through to Season 26 last year. Her artist Asher HaVon won Season 25, and it has been announced that McEntire will return for the 28th season scheduled for 2025. Interestingly, she initially declined the role years ago, and her reason is quite understandable.
It’s clear McEntire is well-versed in the entertainment field and often shares insights with aspiring vocalists. Additionally, her presence as a country artist on the panel was welcomed after Blake Shelton’s departure. However, it took some time for her to accept the invitation to join The Voice. During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, McEntire explained that she initially declined because she didn’t want to be perceived as overly critical or negative.
Initially, I found the idea quite daunting as I dislike having to criticize others. Years back, when it initially surfaced from Holland, I declined the opportunity, remarking, “It’s not for me to tell someone to keep their day job.” And I stand firm on that decision!
Initially, it’s understandable that McEntire hesitated about participating in the show. After all, it can be tough to dash someone’s dreams of singing stardom by suggesting their aspirations might be a bit unattainable. This only underscores McEntire’s compassion and her willingness to offer opportunities when possible. Eventually, she agreed and is excited for Season 28, which airs later this year.
In my experience as a reviewer of reality TV shows like The Voice, I found the initial coaching approach to be particularly beneficial and inspiring. Now, with the return of coaches such as Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé, myself, and Niall Horan, the atmosphere remains warm, supportive, and uplifting. We’re not just coaches; we’re here to encourage our artists and help them grow.
After several seasons, McEntire finds her experience enjoyable and is looking forward to another season. Given her understanding of what it takes to win, she’ll be an asset, as will her fellow coaches. On The Voice, camaraderie among the coaches appears stronger than ever, with friendly banter and potential advice-giving, which likely contributes to McEntire’s continued participation.
Regarding her participation in “The Voice” after Season 28, it’s yet to be determined. Since “Happy’s Place” is coming back for its second season this fall, scheduling could play a significant role. Given that both shows are on NBC and likely filmed at the Universal lot, there might be some overlap, but coordinating schedules could prove challenging.
As a movie buff putting it in my own words: I can’t help but feel excited about the lineup of coaches for Season 28 of The Voice! Reba McEntire has got some serious talent joining her this season with Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan, and Michael Bublé. With so many talented hopefuls eagerly waiting for their chance to shine, only time will tell if Reba will make or break someone’s dreams. Fans like me can only anxiously await the upcoming season to unfold!
