The Red Sea Film Foundation has named Faisal Baltyuor as its new CEO.
Effective June 1st, the esteemed Saudi film producer and industry trailblazer, who has taken up a new position, will officially replace Mohammed Al Turki, who assumed an advisory role with the organizer of the annual Red Sea Film Festival. This in turn made Mohammed Asseri act as the temporary head.
Baltyuor expressed great pride in being appointed as CEO at the Red Sea Film Foundation, an influential organization playing a pivotal role in Saudi Arabia’s cultural and cinematic transformation. In just a short span, this foundation has earned a prominent position on the international festival circuit, and we are determined to capitalize on this achievement,” Baltyuor stated about his new post.
Baltyuor served as the inaugural head of Ithra Cinema and the initial CEO of the Saudi Film Council. He is also the founder and operator of CineWaves Films, a Saudi film distributor, and holds the position of CEO at Muvi Studios. Most recently, he unveiled Riyadh’s first art-house cinema, Cinehouse. Among Baltyuor’s notable film executive producer credits are The Perfect Candidate, which was showcased at the Venice International Film Festival, and the successful Saudi film Sattar.
Jomana Al-Rashid, head of the Red Sea Film Foundation, expressed her joy in a statement about Faisal’s new position. “We are thrilled today to have Faisal join us on this exciting journey,” she said. “His innovative leadership and relentless dedication to nurturing up-and-coming talent will drive not only artistic achievement but also the long-term expansion of our industry.
For the past five years, the Red Sea International Film Festival has displayed over 520 films from 85 different countries and an additional 130 Saudi productions. The forthcoming event will take place from December 4th to the 13th in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s historic district of Al Balad.
