As a long-time admirer of timeless elegance and old Hollywood glamour, I must say that Reese Witherspoon‘s Emmys night outfit left me utterly smitten! The dress she wore was not just a beautiful black ballgown; it was a nod to an iconic era, reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn’s unforgettable gown in Sabrina.
I had quite the crush on Reese Witherspoon’s Emmys evening, largely due to her stunning black gown (I’ll delve deeper into that soon). Yet, the star of the upcoming Season 4 of “The Morning Show” didn’t stop there; she posted a series of photos from the event, and it seems like she was hanging out with her fellow stars like Laura Dern and Jennifer Aniston. Honestly, I couldn’t help but wish I could have been a secret observer in their midst.
As the Emmy winners for 2024 were announced, I decided to capture some stunning selfies and pictures of the elegantly dressed ladies, serving as a delightful alternative. Among the many memorable moments, my favorite was when Dern and Witherspoon were strolling down the hallway, and Witherspoon sweetly touched her co-star’s hair and shoulder from Big Little Lies. It seems they made an exceptional duo at this grand TV event, sharing a fun-filled evening together.

Despite neither Reese Witherspoon nor Jennifer Aniston taking home an award in the Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series category, Shogun’s Anna Sawai, who delivered remarkable fight scenes, truly deserved recognition. However, judging by their lively interactions at the event and Jen’s comment on Reese’s recent post (“Love my girls! ❤”), it’s clear that they still had a fantastic time together.
As a fervent admirer, I must say that Cameron Mathison and Kate Hudson both expressed their affection with a flurry of heart emojis on the post. While I cherish the camaraderie of a girls’ night out, let me take a moment to focus on Reese’s dress. It exudes style, it’s an elegant black number, and its dreamy detailing is simply captivating.
In a recent viewing, I discovered that Audrey Hepburn’s famous black-and-white dress from the movie “Sabrina” was actually a result of an unexpected collaboration between Audrey and designer Givenchy. This was due to the initial belief that Katherine Hepburn, not Audrey, was going to attend a fitting. However, they hit it off wonderfully, leading to the creation of stunning outfits for the film that are still admired today.
Currently, Reese’s outfit seems to remind me a little of Hepburn’s style, as it’s a change from the bold red gowns she usually wears at premieres, and it’s actually a Dior piece.
She accessorized the outfit with a diamond choker featuring a yellow gemstone, along with stud earrings that stood out against her black and ivory dress. What particularly appeals to me about it, apart from its timeless shape, is its vintage Hollywood glamour feel, evoking memories of the enchanting ballgown Audrey Hepburn wore in “Sabrina,” which earned the film a Best Costume Design award in 1954.
The silhouettes of the dresses worn by the actress from ‘The Morning Show’ and Audrey Hepburn vary significantly. Hepburn’s gown features beaded floral accents at its top and bottom, while Witherspoon’s dress showcases appliquéd snakes up its side. The color schemes are reversed; Hepburn wore a white dress with a black floral overlay, while Witherspoon donned a black dress with an ivory overlay. Despite these differences, both dresses exude a striking similarity in their romantic two-tone themes, and I find myself drawn to admire them repeatedly.
Perhaps there’s a chance I might appreciate a touch more vintage elegance in forthcoming Hollywood gatherings. Classic styles never go out of fashion, and Reese’s recent appearance is one that truly stands out to me.
