Regal Cinemas has added another four Imax theaters.

The second-largest cinema chain in the U.S., Regal, has broadened its collaboration with Imax for laser projection screens in cities like Los Angeles, Houston, and Washington, D.C. This move indicates that Regal is once again investing in domestic circuit upgrades, following its exit from financial restructuring under parent company Regal Cineworld.

Regal Cinemas has extended its cooperation with Imax for new laser projection screens in cities such as Los Angeles, Houston, and Washington, D.C., suggesting they are now investing in improvements to their theaters in the U.S., having emerged from a financial restructuring process.

As a cinephile, I’m thrilled to be part of the Regal family, where we prioritize enhancing your cinema adventure. We’re all about elevating the movie experience by incorporating state-of-the-art technologies such as Imax and other premium upgrades. Eduardo Acuna, our CEO at Regal Cineworld Group, put it perfectly when he said, “We are dedicated to offering our guests the most modern and cutting-edge technologies in our theaters, with a focus on delivering an unparalleled moviegoing experience.

By collaborating with Imax, we’re able to enhance our dedication even further by introducing their cutting-edge entertainment at select high-performing venues,” he noted. Cinemas such as Regal, AMC Theatres, and Cinemark have long prioritized improvements to offer a more luxurious experience and entice viewers to leave the comfort of their homes.

Under its recent contract, Regal is set to introduce an 80-foot IMAX theater at the L.A. Live amusement park in Los Angeles. This deal also includes the installation of new IMAX cinemas at Regal Greenway Grand Palace in downtown Houston, Regal Virginia Gateway near Washington D.C., and Regal Sherman Oaks in Los Angeles.

Under the new deal, Regal Cineworld will renew 33 of its IMAX locations within the U.S., and they’ve also scheduled ten previously agreed-upon upgrades to IMAX with laser projection for 2025. Globally, Regal Cineworld currently operates 132 IMAX screens across 640 different locations.
