‘Rekha Ji made me sound mature’ admits Sunidhi Chauhan in Kaisi Paheli Zindagani: ‘Mai kuch over kar deti acha karne ke chakkar me’

As a fervent admirer of Bollywood music, I have always been captivated by the enchanting voice of Sunidhi Chauhan. Her versatility and range are truly unparalleled, making every song she sings a delight to the ears. However, it is her life experiences and anecdotes that make her journey even more fascinating.

Sunidhi Chauhan is one of the most adaptable singers, boasting a vocal range that would challenge even the best singers! This iconic artist truly embodies every song, whether heard off-screen or on it. Lately, she reminisced about her past and shared that she was unaware she was singing Kaise Paheli Zindgani for Rekha ji, saying, ‘I was just trying to do my best in the process.’ She also confessed that ‘Rekha Ji helped me sound mature.’

In conversation with Sucharita Tyagi, Chauhan revealed that he was unaware Kaisi Paheli was being filmed alongside Rekha. He admitted, “If I had known, perhaps I would have tried to do something better in the process, and that wouldn’t have been good.

It wasn’t known to me that Kaisi Paheli was going to be filmed with Rekha Ji. In a sense, I’m relieved I didn’t know because had I been aware, I might have tried too hard to improve it, and that would have felt disappointing.

She went on to clarify that during the time she was performing, actress Raima Sen arrived for the recording session. In her mind, since Raima was present, it seemed only fitting that the song would be associated with her character in Parineeta and possibly feature her in the music video.

Yet, upon viewing the song, she was astonished to find Rekha Ji on stage. She noted that there were no younger performers who could rival the exceptional talent that Rekha Ji possessed.

Chauhan added, “She gave me a more refined image, making me sound older and wiser than I am. I didn’t initially have that youthful tone with her, but she managed to project it so well, and it was simply amazing and hard to believe.

In an earlier interview, the singer shared that when Parineeta was released, she was taken aback to witness Rekha miming to her vocals. Sunidhi expressed admiration for Rekha’s performance, stating it left her in awe. Moreover, Sunidhi stated that Rekha performed with the grace of a divine being, and her expressions only added depth to her singing.

Parineeta marked the acting debut of Vidya Balan. The film was helmed by Pradeep Sarkar and featured Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, Raima Sen, and Dia Mirza in significant roles.
