It’s been officially announced that Netflix will produce a remake of the Stephen King novel, Cujo. This information has been verified by The Hollywood Reporter.
Roy Lee is set to create a new version of the chilling tale centered around a mother and son battling against a ferocious rabid dog, while they are stuck in their vehicle. Originally, “Cujo” was based on Stephen King’s 1981 psychological horror novel with the same title, where Cujo initially appeared as a friendly St. Bernard, but after being bitten by a bat, it transformed into the most feared adversary.
In the 1983 movie titled “Cujo”, a character named Donna (played by Dee Wallace) along with her son, Tad (performed by Danny Pintauro), find themselves in a dangerous situation when they encounter Cujo. Stephen King’s novels, including his debut novel “Carrie” from 1976, have been frequently chosen for screen adaptations by the film industry.
This list encompasses screen adaptations based on books such as “The Shining,” “The Shawshank Redemption,” “Stand by Me,” “It,” and its sequel “It Chapter Two.” More recent adaptations feature Lewis Pullman and Alfre Woodard in the horror drama “Salem’s Lot,” a series about an author returning to his hometown for creative inspiration, but instead finds it plagued by a terrifying monster.
Mike Flanagan collaborated with Stephen King on adaptations of “Life of Chuck”, “Doctor Sleep” and “Gerald’s Game”. Lionsgate acquired the rights for Stephen King’s 1979 dystopian novel “The Long Walk”, with Francis Lawrence set to direct it.
Throughout his extensive writing career, King has penned approximately 65 novels and more than 200 short stories. Many of these works have garnered international acclaim, with numerous adaptations for both films and television shows.
