Renuka Shahane Birthday: When actress shared everyone wanted her to marry their brothers after Salman Khan- Madhuri Dixit’s Hum Aapke Hain Koun

As a dedicated follower who has grown up watching the magic of Hindi cinema, I can truly say that Renuka Shahane is a timeless gem. Her portrayal of Pooja in Hum Aapke Hain Koun has left an indelible mark on my heart and the hearts of millions of viewers. Three decades have passed since the film’s release, yet her charm and grace continue to captivate us.

2024 marks another year of wisdom and beauty for actress Renuka Shahane, born on October 7th. As we celebrate this milestone, let’s reminisce over the last three decades since “Hum Aapke Hain Koun” hit screens. Despite time passing, fans still adore her as the perfect sister-in-law in Rajshri Productions’ family drama. In an interview on The Kapil Sharma Show, Renuka shared that many wished for their brother to marry her!

Kapil inquired if she had been offered roles similar to her sister-in-law’s after the movie or received marriage proposals. She promptly answered, “No, everyone seemed to be trying to find a match for me instead (Everyone was looking for their brother to marry me).

Later, Sharma admired Renuka’s portrayal of Pooja, commenting that she had raised the bar for what people imagined a bhabhi (sister-in-law) should be like. He jokingly mentioned that when his actual sister-in-law first visited their home, he was surprised to find her not acting like Renuka Shahane’s character.

Renuka discussed her memorable scene in Hum Aapke Hain Koun where her character tumbles down the stairs and ultimately meets an unfortunate end. When Kapil Sharma enquired about her apprehensions regarding getting injured during filming, she clarified that director Sooraj Barjatya had constructed a sponge staircase specifically to ensure her safety.

She jokingly commented that he’d pop in on her roughly every two minutes just to make sure she was alright.

Previously, during an interview with IANS, I admitted to frequently feeling constrained by the persona of Pooja bhabhi from Hum Aapke Hain Koun. I elaborated that this character had such a profound impact on viewers that they often expected me to emulate Pooja in my everyday life.

Renuka pointed out that unlike the character she portrays on screen, she goes through a variety of emotions – from getting upset to feeling inquisitive, and sometimes not having a constant grin. She revealed that viewers often remark that Pooja bhabhi wouldn’t talk like she does, to which she would respond by explaining that she is Renuka, not Pooja bhabhi.
