Resident Alien Season 4’s Shocking Harry Twist Will Change Everything You Thought About the Show!

Caution: Major plot reveals for “Resident Alien” season 4 episode 5 titled “The Human Condition.” The fifth episode of this season, unlike previous ones due to certain production elements, offers a surprising turn for Alan Tudyk’s character Harry Vanderspeigle. This unexpected development promises an exciting trajectory for the remaining episodes of the season, which includes five more episodes yet to be aired.

I must admit, Harry, as portrayed by Tudyk in Resident Alien, stands out among the best characters on the show. Even when he’s been trapped in human form, like we’ve seen lately, his character has been a delight to watch. However, his current storyline has been enjoyable yet somewhat lacking in substantial payoff. Luckily, “The Human Condition” episode brought another unforeseen twist for Harry, which is exactly the kind of surprise the show thrives on.

Harry’s Shocking Disappearance In Episode 5’s Ending Is Fixing Resident Alien Season 4’s Uneven Story

“The Human Condition” caught me off guard with its cool ending

In my humble opinion as a film critic, Harry’s journey in “Resident Alien” season 4 has predominantly centered around his remarkable transformation into a fully-fledged human. The episode titled “The Human Condition” delves deeply into this storyline, offering the most extensive exploration yet. However, just when it seems like Harry has found harmony with his new existence, an unexpected twist unfolds – he vanishes before the very eyes of Asta Twelvetrees (Sara Tomko).

I find it quite intriguing that Harry’s disappearing act was the moment in Resident Alien this season that truly took me by surprise. The return of Heather (Edi Patterson) and the disclosure of their alien offspring also left me startled, but not to the same degree. Apart from those two surprises, Season 4 has been rather inconsistent and, at times, a bit lacking in excitement.

Lately, the episodes of Resident Alien have kept me chuckling, and the emotional scenes have hit their mark, yet the narrative hasn’t advanced significantly in terms of impactful progress. One contributing factor might be the cutback in funding following the shift from Syfy to USA Network, which could potentially limit the scope of the storytelling.

Due to an unseen shift in production, showrunner Chris Sheridan is finding innovative ways to develop “Resident Alien” season 4, leading to outcomes that are both intriguing and amusing. With Harry’s sudden disappearance, the storyline now has a clearer trajectory.

Why Did Harry Vanish In “The Human Condition” & What Does It Mean For Season 4?

Harry’s father may be behind his son’s disappearance

In the final episode, it wasn’t made clear how or why Harry disappeared, but I’ve come up with a few possible explanations. One theory revolves around Harry’s father who is set to appear in season 4. Given the strong emphasis on parenthood in “The Human Condition,” it seems fitting that Stephen Root, who will play Harry’s dad, makes his debut soon.

Information about the abilities of Harry’s species in Resident Alien has been disclosed, but nothing suggests they can make people disappear. It’s possible that Harry’s father, who recently arrived in orbit, transported Harry to his spacecraft. Another theory centers around Harry’s recent biological transformation.

Now, it appears that Harry, once considered an alien, has concluded “The Human Condition” contentedly accepting his new identity as a human. Although this shows maturity and understanding from Tudyk’s character, we can’t predict the consequences of relinquishing his alien roots. It might be possible that he vanishes, having become incomplete or incompatible with existence anymore.

Consider the case of Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker in “Spider-Man 2” (2004), where he temporarily lost his powers because of a change in his mental state. While it’s not an exact parallel, there could be some similarities worth exploring. In light of this, I believe Stephen Root’s portrayal of Harry’s father in “Resident Alien” might offer a more plausible explanation for Tudyk’s character’s disappearance.
