Resident Evil 4 Remake on Switch 2 Should Have Motion and Mouse Controls

Without a doubt, the reimagined version of Resident Evil 4 has been an enormous triumph, as anticipated by many. With sales surpassing 10 million units, gamers worldwide eagerly anticipate its potential arrival on the Switch 2, where it’s expected to leave everyone equally astounded.

Given the collection of Resident Evil games on the Switch, it’s highly likely that we’ll see updated versions of these modern remakes. To make these ports even more special, Capcom could consider incorporating motion control and mouse control features as a nod to the beloved Wii Edition.

For certain enthusiasts, witnessing the Resident Evil 4 remake on consoles other than the Nintendo one felt somewhat incongruous. They were aware that the Switch wasn’t capable of running this game, but it was still disappointing to see a Gamecube remake bypass Nintendo’s hybrid system.

Given the impressive demonstration of power from the Switch 2, it seems reasonable that Capcom could effortlessly transfer this remake without complications. Enhancing it further with motion and mouse controls would indeed elevate it to become the ultimate version of this refreshed timeless classic.

We’ve recently dubbed this two-port device as “Resident Evil 4 Remake: Definitive Edition.” Hope you like it, Capcom!

Motion control isn’t suitable for everyone, but it holds a unique appeal for fans of Resident Evil 4. The Wii adaptation of this shooter boasted exceptionally fluid motion controls that surpassed many Nintendo-developed games in terms of smoothness. In addition, players had the choice to utilize GameCube or Classic Controllers, which added to its overall definitive feel for fans.

Incorporating these new features in the Resident Evil 4 remake on the hypothetical Switch 2 would elevate it over the original game on Switch. While the current version is still enjoyable for that platform, fans were taken aback when Capcom omitted the Wii’s motion controls from the Joy-Con. Interestingly, it was the Switch version of Resident Evil 5 that included these controls, which inadvertently made it the more comprehensive edition of this often underestimated sequel.

In addition to what’s already being done, Capcom could consider implementing motion and mouse controls for the potential Switch 2 versions of their other Resident Evil remakes. At present, these games are only available as cloud games on the original Switch console, much like Square’s questionable Kingdom Hearts Cloud ports.

Given Nintendo’s commitment to motion and mouse controls on the Switch 2, it wouldn’t be unexpected if the Resident Evil 4 Remake follows suit. The success of such controls in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Civilization 7 suggests they could seamlessly integrate with the RE series, especially since these games already have PC versions, making adjustments relatively straightforward.

Ultimately, even if these Resident Evil games are considered “fundamental” versions, they remain outstanding third-person shooters that many would love to experience. Here’s to hoping the ports are done skillfully.

Seriously though, Resident Evil 4 Remake: Definitive Edition writes itself…
