Richa Chadha is heartbroken to see people bursting crackers amid toxic AQI levels in Delhi; 'sheer hatred for one-selves'

As a fervent admirer of Richa Chadha, I find her unwavering dedication to environmental issues and her vocal activism truly inspiring. Her recent outcry over Delhi’s alarming air quality post-Diwali is a testament to her deep-rooted connection with the city and her unyielding commitment towards a healthier environment.

As a devoted admirer, I’d like to share that Richa Chadha, much like myself, is an advocate for environmental concerns and their potential repercussions. Lately, she voiced her worries on her X platform about the worsening air quality in Delhi post Diwali festivities.

Despite Delhi experiencing heavy annual smog and pollution, the post-Diwali period often sees an excessive use of firecrackers. Richa Chadha commented on a user’s post, sharing a video of firecrackers being ignited amidst a dense smog layer, with AQI levels surpassing 1000 in certain areas deemed ‘dangerous’ for human health.

Take a look:

As I stand here, deeply troubled and disheartened, I can’t help but express my concern about our shared fate. We are essentially living under a verdict that feels like a death sentence – it’s the air we breathe daily, laden with pollution. This city holds a special place in my heart, and yet, I find myself feeling let down by the state of its air quality. It’s not just about health; it’s about our right to breathe freely, to live without fearing for our lungs every day. We deserve better.

She penned, “The death sentence called life in Delhi… the city of my childhood, my school, my roots…  Heartbreaking to see the apathy and sheer hatred for one-selves. Politicians will do nothing unless we learn to speak up for ourselves.”

Earlier in an interview with Vogue India, the actress expressed her hesitation about having a child because of the effects of global warming. She cited extreme summer and winter temperatures as evidence of these impacts, which made her uncertain about starting a family.

On the professional side, Richa Chadha was recently spotted in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s production Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. After that, she took some time off for personal reasons and became a mother to a baby girl with her husband Ali Fazal. Lately, she has been preparing for the launch of her upcoming project titled Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hai.
