Richert Beil FW25 Fashions the Pressures of Parenthood

At Berlin, Richert Beil presented his Fall/Winter 2025 collection titled “MUTTER,” which narrated the tale of a weary mother, portraying both emotional and physical fatigue. Held within the cold confines of Fichtebunker – an old bunker in Kreuzberg that served as a refuge for mothers and their children during World War II – the event mirrored the line’s examination into the pressures surrounding nurturing, producing, and maintaining one’s role as a parent. This historical site provided a fitting backdrop, symbolizing the endurance and resilience of mothers throughout challenging times.

According to Beil, this compilation is a reaction to modern life’s requirements, serving as a reminder to recognize the hidden costs of continuous work, the emotional strain of perpetual performance and materialism, and the critical importance of regaining sincerity and compassion.

As a gamer, I found myself donning an armored outfit that felt a tad restrictive. Tight-fitting tank tops were layered under long-sleeve button-down shirts, while long dresses completely covered my head and neck, much like a protective gaming helmet. Leather balaclavas, resembling the tight shell of a gaming console, enveloped me entirely.

Beneath these layers, bulky leather skirts hid wide-legged pleated trousers, reminiscent of a heavy gaming controller hidden within a protective case. To top it all off, double-breasted overcoats reached down to my shins, offering sturdy protection against any virtual threats that might come my way.
