Rick and Morty Season 8: Action, Emotion, and the Best Episodes Yet!

The animated series ‘Rick and Morty’ stands out as one of the most imaginative shows I have ever seen. Its science fiction themes make it capable of running for an endless number of seasons, rivaling the longevity of popular series like ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Family Guy.’ However, even long-running programs can sometimes fall short or fail to reach their peak potential. Fortunately, season 8 of ‘Rick and Morty’ does not share this fate; from the four episodes I’ve watched, it appears the show is at its best.

As a devout fan of “Rick and Morty”, it took me a while to adjust to the new voices replacing Justin Roiland’s iconic characters he voiced for six seasons. Throughout season 7, I found myself frequently pointing out moments where I felt the new voices didn’t quite measure up, in terms of similarity or emotional depth. However, in season 8, Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden seem to have settled more comfortably into their roles, and now I can’t help but hear the classic Rick and Morty everywhere I listen!

Rick And Morty Season 8 Knows When To Go Big & Small

The Animated Series’ Well-Known Formula Works Wonders

The animated series “Rick and Morty” does have events that are part of the canon, which carry over from one season to another. Additionally, each season usually follows a particular narrative structure leading up to a significant finale. As I’ve only seen four out of ten episodes from season 8, I can’t predict exactly how it will unfold. However, I appreciate how the show skillfully utilizes references to past seasons and pushes boundaries in the eighth season so far. It keeps things engaging and new while maintaining continuity with previous events.

In this specific episode from Season 8, there’s a strong connection to previous events that I find particularly appealing. It stands out as one of my favorites due to its intense action sequences, shocking revelations, and breathtaking visuals. What makes it even more interesting is how an action-packed installment like this can lead to profound realizations for the characters. Personally, I appreciate the darker, more introspective scenes involving Rick and Morty – as well as other characters – in Season 8. Although the series excels at offering exciting escapades with imaginative backdrops and advanced technology, those insightful moments add depth to both the characters and the world, making it even more captivating.

The show Rick and Morty wouldn’t be the same without its mind-blowing standalone episodes filled with outlandish ideas I’d never imagine. Not every idea hits in season 8, but one reason I stay hooked on the series is because of the daring creative leaps the writers consistently take, episode after episode. In essence, Rick and Morty can be described as fearless, and this fearlessness continues in season 8, making both the more intimate episodes and grand occurrences thrilling.

The Smith Family Shines In Wild Scenarios

Summer & Beth Get A Touching Storyline

In my opinion, the premiere of Rick and Morty’s eighth season stands out as one of the finest episodes yet. It perfectly embodies the series’ knack for going all-out with action and world-building, while simultaneously offering deep character growth. This episode puts the spotlight on the Smith family in a truly captivating manner, proving that Rick and Morty are not the only luminaries of this show. Summer and Beth share an emotionally resonant storyline that beautifully illustrates their unique bond, similarities, and contrasting thought processes, surpassing many previous seasons in this regard.

Jerry takes center stage during Season 8. Although he remains a secondary character who I believe the show will always keep on the outskirts, his character becomes the focus of an intriguing plotline that begins modestly and escalates into one of the most outrageous episodes in the series. Meanwhile, the core characters Rick and Morty engage in various dynamic analyses throughout the season, consistently delivering stellar performances as the show’s top duo.

Apart from the captivating characters and plots, I must commend the stunning visuals of season 8. The animation remains smooth and fluid, ensuring action sequences flow flawlessly. This season is particularly gruesome, with numerous grisly deaths in each episode. The show doesn’t flinch from such depictions, which intensifies the overall viewing experience, especially when Rick seems completely unfazed by it. Additionally, the diverse and beautiful landscapes we encounter as we travel to various planets add to the immersive feel of the series, making season 8 of Rick and Morty truly a gem in every aspect.

Rick and Morty season 8 premieres Sunday, May 25 on Adult Swim.
