RM Sotheby’s Celebrates a Landmark $887M USD Year in 2024

As a seasoned gamer and auto enthusiast with a decade of collecting under my belt, I can confidently say that 2024 was a monumental year for the collector car market, and RM Sotheby’s undoubtedly stole the show. With over $887 million in global sales, it’s clear that they have cemented their position as the go-to destination for collectors worldwide.

My personal highlights include the jaw-dropping $69.2 million USD sale of the Dare to Dream Collection and the impressive $31 million USD from The Junkyard: The Rudi Klein Collection. It’s not every day you get to witness such historic moments in the world of automobiles!

Breaking over 50 auction records is no small feat, showcasing the growth and excitement within our community. As a collector myself, it’s inspiring to see the passion and dedication that RM Sotheby’s brings to their work.

The return to the Middle East with two successful auctions in Dubai was another major milestone, demonstrating the global reach of this esteemed company. With 41 auctions held globally, I can’t help but feel a sense of camaraderie and connection with fellow collectors from all corners of the earth.

Now, as I sit here in my humble garage filled with some of the world’s most desirable cars, I can’t help but chuckle at the thought that one day, these might be considered “classics” worthy of being auctioned off for millions. Until then, I’ll enjoy every mile behind the wheel and cherish the memories made along the way!

2024 saw RM Sotheby’s record over $887 million in worldwide sales, making it one of their most prosperous years yet. Their success was a result of live and online auctions, Sealed Auctions, and private sales. Throughout these channels, they consistently led the collector car market with an impressive 96% sell-through rate across all platforms.

2021 witnessed approximately 126 luxury vehicles being sold for more than one million U.S. dollars. Some remarkable sales during this period included:

– The Dare to Dream Collection ($69.2 million USD)
– The Junkyard: The Rudi Klein Collection ($31 million USD)
– The Aumann Collection at Munich ($19.1 million USD)

Moreover, RM Sotheby’s established over 50 new auction records, demonstrating the escalating trend in the collector car market.

Among the ten highest-selling cars, four surpassed the $10 million mark. The 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider by Scaglietti was the most expensive, fetching $17,055,000 USD, followed closely by the 1955 Ferrari 410 Sport Spider by Scaglietti at $12,985,000 USD, and a 2014 Pagani Zonda LM Roadster, which sold for $11,086,250 USD.

2024 marked a significant achievement for the company, as they re-entered the Middle East market through two auctions in Dubai, having previously held their first auction there in 2019. With a total of 41 global auctions under their belt, including prestigious events such as Monterey Car Week, RM Sotheby’s firmly established itself as a key player in bringing collectors together with the world’s most coveted automobiles.
