Rolls-Royce Unveils One-of-One “Cherry Blossom” Phantom

In Japan, where cherry blossoms gracefully bloom, Rolls-Royce has introduced a unique masterpiece – the “Cherry Blossom” Phantom. This bespoke, one-of-a-kind creation is an ode to the ephemeral charm of spring’s cherished emblem. Drawing inspiration from the traditional Japanese practice of Hanami, or appreciating flowers, this Phantom Extended was tailored for a discerning Japanese client who wishes to preserve and pass on treasured memories of the blooming season to generations to come.

Over a span of three and a half years, the Phantom Cherry Blossom was painstakingly created. Inside, over 250,000 embroidery threads were carefully hand-stitched. The focal point is a custom-made Starlight Headliner, embellished with delicate cherry blossoms; each petal is precisely stitched to catch the light like precious gems. The falling petals are also visible on the rear doors and partition, providing the feeling of being seated under a flowering Sakura tree.

Rolls-Royce innovatively used three-dimensional embroidery for the first time, making cherry blossoms appear life-like and sculptural. Each petal was individually shaped and sewn by hand, utilizing traditional Japanese methods that have been adapted to fit modern artistry. The exterior boasts a Crystal over Arctic White finish, maintaining a humble yet sophisticated aesthetic, complete with a subtly painted coachline ending in a cherry blossom design. Even the umbrellas hidden within the doors showcase the floral theme, displaying a falling petal pattern on their lining.

Martina Starke, General Manager of Bespoke Design at Rolls-Royce, stated that the cherry blossom symbolizes the transient quality of life. She explained that this automobile embodies this idea by integrating traditional craftsmanship with modern artistry,” said Martina Starke.
